🌱💚 LCC Crimp Crescent Pickup Today at LCN 💚🌱

Today we were very chuffed to have Leschenault Catchment Council pickup their Crimp Crescent pickup.

LCC have been alongside LCN since the very beginning, sharing a commitment to caring for Country, restoring local ecosystems, and creating a healthier eastuary for future generations.

Partnerships like these are a reminder of what can be achieved when community organisations work together with a common purpose. Every plant collected today represents another step towards strengthening habitat, supporting biodiversity, and reconnecting our local environment.

Thank you to LCC for your continued support over the years. We are proud to grow alongside you. ❤️🌱

🌱🚛 Another successful week of getting local plants back into the landscape.

This week’s DBCA South West Region pickup was successfully loaded and trucked out, ready to support revegetation and habitat restoration projects across our region.

For many years, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions South West team has partnered with LCN, purchasing locally grown native plants to help care for Country and strengthen our natural environments.

At LCN, our ethos has always been simple: grow local plants, support local biodiversity, and make a positive contribution to our community and environment. As a not-for-profit nursery, every plant we grow helps support that vision.

Every tray leaving the nursery represents habitat, biodiversity, and a shared commitment to caring for Country.

A huge thank you to our volunteers and staff whose hard work continues to make these projects possible. 💚🌱

Today, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We recognise their enduring connection to Country and the knowledge they have shared through countless generations in caring for land, water, plants, animals, and community.

Country doesn’t argue. It doesn’t negotiate.

Very grateful there wasn’t too much to clean up at LCN this morning. Thankfully, for the most part, it was mainly a few larger pots that had toppled over. All customer orders were protected behind our wind wall, along with the trees and shrubs we’ve planted around our perimeter over the years. 🌱🌳

Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, the clean-up was quick and easy. Their ongoing support helps keep the nursery looking its best, no matter what the weather throws our way. 💚

It’s a timely reminder of the important role vegetation plays in our landscapes. The habitat we’ve established around the nursery helped buffer the strongest winds, protecting plants, infrastructure, and wildlife alike.

The rivers are running, the wetlands are filling, and the landscape is taking a long, deep drink. While the weather can be challenging, this rain is a welcome sight for our bushland, waterways, gardens, and revegetation projects.

We’re grateful that the nursery came through the cold front well, and we hope our community did too.

How did everyone fare through the weather event?

While we love the rain and all it brings, we hope everyone is safe and warm during Makuru. 💙🍃

After months of waiting, Makuru has arrived with purpose, filling our waterways, soaking the earth, and breathing life back into the landscape. The first strong winter rains have transformed the Southwest, and everywhere you look there are signs of renewal.

For us at LCN, this season is closely tied to revegetation. It’s been a busy start to winter, with native plants heading out across the region to help restore habitat, strengthen biodiversity, and contribute to caring for Country.

There is something comforting about seeing the river flow, hearing rain on the roof, and knowing that the land is receiving what it needs. As each cold front rolls through, the roots of newly planted natives begin their journey into the soil, supported by the season that has sustained this Country for thousands of years.

While we welcome the rain, our thoughts are also with everyone across the Southwest impacted by these strong weather systems. Please take care on the roads, stay clear of flooded areas, secure loose items around your home, and check in on family, friends and neighbours who may need a hand.

🌧️ The river is running.
🌱 The ground is drinking.
💙 Country is being renewed.

Stay safe, stay warm, and take careof one another this Makuru season. 🌿💙
