I was faced with another chimney challenge, this time installing a Jetmaster Fireplaces Heat n Glo i30X in Windellama.

The existing open fireplace had a custom 10mm steel liner that had to be removed for the new fireplace insert to go in. Needless to say, even with the plates removed, it was a tight fit.

Thanks to Sam and the Boys from Bungendore Engineering for working that plasma magic as usual.

I quite often (way more than I'd like) come across non-compliant installations when performing reactive service work on fireplaces.

This Nectre MK1 in Wyanbene had been leaking smoke and products of combustion between the mis-matched and non-attached flue lengths, resulting in poor heater performance, spillage into the living area and what appears to be a number of flue fires.

The only saving grace in this installation, was that the majority of the flue was on the outside of the roof cavity.

Not to mention, the minimum clearance from the combustible wall and external fascia also required re-setting.

The result, new flue kit installation supplied by AllFlames Canberra.
