✨ Mailing Plants ~ how we do it ✨
🪴 Plamps 😍
🪴 Thoroughly check over for pests and note any imperfections that may deteriorate while in transit.
🪴 Gently coil roots up into the smallest shape.
🪴 Add slightly moist coconut coir. Can not stress this enough, *barely moist*. One of the most common transit plant damage I've experienced, that inhibits the continuous growth of a plant, is from too much moisture.
🪴 Wrap in paper towel.
🪴 Check the neck so its not going to leak coconut coir.
🪴 Size up any clean reusable plastic. Bread bags are always a great go to, but today we have zip lock bags.
🪴 Cut plastic to size. Ideally I prefer to have a corner or pocket to work with, to retain moisture.
🪴 Wrap it up and LABEL!!! Even if it's just a single letter to avoid confusion.
🪴 Check the neck isn't too tight or potentially going to rub.
🪴 Roll the leaves in paper towel. This retains moisture, protects from rubbing and helps to keep everything snug.
🪴 Strap everyone down, to the box, and to each other, while being conscious of weight distribution.
🪴 Literally hold it upside down and shake the living f*k out of it like Ace Ventura is going to be delivering it, if it doesn't fail here, we're good to go.
🪴 Check weight - we keep it under 1kg.
🪴 Free cuttings! Wooo! This whole package is a gift for 🎁 but generally speaking, when ever we do get orders, it's a challenge to see how many freebies we can safely stock in there. These are Pelliona Repens cuttings, with extra paper towel underneath. Some of the leaves on these cuttings will wilt and fall but this won't impact the growth.
🪴 Top up with extra paper towel for padding and insulation.
🪴 Weight check.
🪴 aaand we are donsky ✅
🪴 If it's structurally sound and not funky, Rough enough is good enough, when it comes to reusing packaging. Let's normalise imperfections 🌏🪴
