We are so pleased that the new community centre in Atherton is now under construction! Coburn Architecture have been involved in the design, documentation and project management for this project, through several iterations, to help deliver this important community facility. Congratulations to our client Better Together Community Support on reaching this milestone. 🙌
There has been much speculation about what is happening on Robert Street between the Scout hut and the Library. We are thrilled to officially announce the construction of the new Atherton Community Centre! The Express Newspaper has given us a great write up about the project this week.
The commencement of the construction of the new Community Centre is the last stage of nearly a decade of planning and grant submissions. The new centre will enable us to better support the community. We hope that the community will claim the centre as their own and create more opportunities to help each other. The slab has now been poured and progress should start to progress faster with the rain subsiding.
Just as the foundation of a building is important, so is the foundation of Better Together as an organisation. Better Together is built on the foundation, that is our people and what they give in the community. Volunteers supported by passionate employees is the base on what we work everyday. For us this stage of the build is about reflecting on where we have been and what it means for our future. The new building brings our 2 locations together, but also provides more opportunity for the community to be “Better Together.”
