HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME AHEAD OF CYCLONE ALFRED

With a category 2 cyclone set to impact Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales, it’s important to take action to protect your home and loved ones. Here are some practical tips to help safeguard your property:

SECURITY SCREENS:
Make sure your security screens are in good condition and securely fitted. They can help protect your windows and doors from flying debris.

OUTDOOR BLINDS & AWNINGS:
If you have outdoor blinds or awnings, make sure they are fully retracted and secure. Strong winds can cause damage or even tear them off.

WINDOWS & DOORS:
Ensure all windows and doors are properly closed and locked.

LOUVRE WINDOWS:
Louvre windows can be vulnerable during a storm due to their design. If possible, secure the blades in the closed position.

CLEAR OUTDOORS AREAS:
Remove any loose items from your yard that could become dangerous projectiles in strong winds.

Taking these simple steps can help minimise damage and keep your family and home safer during the storm.

Stay safe and take care SEQ and Northern NSW our thoughts are with you.

Please remember to roll up your fabric awnings ready for the strong winds to come in the next few days. The fabric will not hold this strength and will tear/rip. Do NOT leave them down or half way down as in the photo attached, roll them all the way to the top. Stay safe.
