Darker interiors can give a room a certain feel.

They look great, but they’re a lot less forgiving.

That’s why the work starts well before any paint goes on. Filling, sanding, and getting everything right so the surface is ready for a clean, even finish.

End result is a tidy finish that makes high-use areas feel like new again.

It’s not the first week that shows how well timber’s been done.

It’s detailed work, but you really see it after a few Tassie seasons when it’s still holding up.

Prep is key. Get the surface right first so oils and coatings can soak in properly and do what they’re meant to.

End result is a natural finish that protects the timber and lasts.

When there’s this much timber in one build, small variations don’t stay small for long.

Across large areas, any difference in preparation or coating shows up once it’s exposed to sun and weather.

The work is in getting every section prepared properly and applying a system that performs evenly across the whole surface.

Done right, it weathers consistently and holds its depth and colour over time.

On builds like this, the architecture does most of the talking.

The finishes need to sit clean behind it. Any uneven edge or variation across big panels stands out straight away.

A lot of the work is in the small things. Keeping lines sharp, transitions tight, and making sure each surface reads how it should.

When it’s done properly, nothing feels overworked. The paint just supports the design.

Natural light changes a room more than people think.

In a space like this that runs the full length, there’s nowhere to hide.

We always look at how the room’s used, how much light it gets, and what it’s sitting alongside before we even start painting.

That's quality painting, done properly.

When a home’s got a mix of original features and newer areas, that’s where things can start to look a bit off.

Matching the colour is one part of it, but getting everything to feel consistent across different surfaces, trims, and transitions is where the real work is.

It comes down to proper prep and treating it as one job, not a bunch of separate areas.

Do it right, and everything ties in and the whole place just feels right end-to-end.

It certainly was a case of “hard work pays off” with this renovation working alongside CDC Development - Pty Ltd.

A lot of time & effort went into this project, especially restoring the timber trims & windows.

A big thanks goes to Rick who looked after this one for us. 👏 🫡
