Regarding my previous post, this is what I achieved.

The more I dug up the original 'compact' design, the more I found 'What on Earth is this?!'

I wont attempt to explain all the 'How, what, why?' I discovered in there, but I have found a solution to all.

Some more big boy stuff during this week. A 150mm PVC mainline repair, reducing down to a new 80mm isolation valve and 80mm Hunter ICV solenoid valve.
Once everything is all glued and connected again, a bunch of concrete has to be put behind the tee junction to help minimise pipe movement when the solenoid valve shuts off. There is a massive amount of force going through these large pipes.
Can confirm the body is pretty sore from climbing in and out of the trench. For such a tall bloke, I sometimes question why I chose a job that is in the ground.. 🤔
But the big jobs are always rewarding.

After a week off with covid and then another week off because the work Ute decided it wanted some sick leave too, it's good to be back into it.
Here we have a nice little irrigation set up for a backyard with the easy to use Orbit B-Hyve WIFI controller.

This is a perfect example of why I install the geo fabric underneath the solenoid valve boxes. This job took about an extra 45mins just to dig up and remove all the plant roots and dirt that was built up in the box, before I could get to fixing the issue.
Once the master valve was changed over and fixed, I reinstated the valve box with the geo fabric for easier access in the future.

After contemplating retiring early and living as a house husband on the just the wife's wage, I decided I better get back to work.
First job of the year, assembling two Food Cube wicking beds and joining them together. Then attaching them to the clients WIFI controlled irrigation system for automatic water top up during periods of no rain.
Using a flow controlled solenoid valve, this helps regulate the water flow, so it's a nice gentle top up for the wicking beds

Your irrigation system doesn't always have to be automated..
Here I have installed a manually operated system, where you just turn the ball valve on to operate the zones.
Just don't forget to turn them off!
