"The Canberra Anglers Association and Boss Outdoors are proud to host a presentation by Danny Spelic at 7:00 PM Wednesday 9 September at Boss Outdoors (Fyshwick). Danny will share expert insights on where fish are most likely to be found in our local waters, along with practical tips and techniques for fishing the ACT region — especially during spring, when conditions shift and fish behaviour changes. Rabbit meat used to be an Aussie staple food. Somehow over the past few decades Aussies have switched away from rabbit as a staple food. With increasing numbers of rabbits, and the decreasing effectiveness of viral controls like calicivirus, an increasing awareness and opposition to inhumane poisons like 1020 and pindone (which affect non-target species) it might be time to rediscover that rabbit meat is a more versatile and healthier alternative to industrial chicken and beef.

Agree with Robbie Katter about wild harvested protein.

With the right government policies and encouragement Australia could potentially export high value and highly nutritious kangaroo, wild boar, camel, goat, venison, rabbit and other wild meats to the world as well as making them more available for local consumption.

Instead we spend tens of millions of taxpayer dollars on unsustainable aerial shooting and widespread mass-poisoning campaigns that end up killing non-target species.

“A billion people starving around the world because they’re not getting enough protein. We can offer that right here.”

“Standing in front of regional chiller boxes, MP Robbie Katter points out a simple truth: regulated commercial harvesting bridges the gap between environmental overabundance in Australia and global food needs.”

“It’s time to move past emotional activist scripts and support the accredited, sustainable industry keeping populations balanced and supplying high-quality food to the world.”
