Teaching the young lad how to splice an eye in a rope. He started his apprenticeship last week, so we're trying to teach him as much as possible so he's ahead of the class.

Splicing is an awesome way to connect ropes to hardware (carabiners, shackles etc) because not only is it tidier than a knot, it is much stronger retaining up to 90% on the ropes minimum breaking strength.

Using the rain day to work on some of our gear. Added an auxiliary oiler kit to the Alaskan mill ready for a big milling job we have coming up.

The chainsaw bar is 6ft long and the bar oil that comes from the power head just simply isn't enough to keep a chain this long lubricated.

Our new recruit Simon felling a Cuban Royal Palm in a tight spot. He's come a long way over the few months he's been here!

I thought the Cuban music was fitting 🤷‍♂️🤣

Teaming up with Ecological Tree Services for a training day!

A training day for us today. Along with the awesome team from Energetic Tree Lopping. Our two crews add up to nine staff, collective there is YEARS of industry experience and qualifications, and there would have to be hundreds of hours spent dealing with commercial grade chippers. Interestingly, a formal ticket is only a fairly new thing in the industry, a bit crazy considering the power these machines possess!

Thanks to Nick from Urban Forest Training & Consultancy - his ability to adapt the information to suit how we operate was really helpful.

Removing this monster Camphor Laurel with a 32 tonne crane. This tree would have taken roughly 3 days to remove without the use of a crane as it was overhanging 4 neighbouring properties.

Was a big day, but nothing is too difficult for team Energetic.

Big thanks to Big Rhino Crane Hire, and all our staff for an awesome effort. Paul Luiten Jamie Lund Alex Upton

Voluntary Work Health & Safety audit today! Was super helpful and we're pleased that this service exists, if you own a business I highly recommend having Worksafe come visit. We have a few things to implement into our safety policies but we're 95% there. We're excited to improve our documents and workplace culture.

Big thanks to Julie from Worksafe and their IPaM (Injury Prevention and Management) program.
