Week 3 of the "Supertunia" trial.

We've now hit a problem where people keep putting the 250 mm pots into their trolleys.

I have to admit, for a $15-16 plant there is some pretty decent (and quick) coverage so far.

So what's new pussycats?? 😻 Oh my gosh - WHERE do I start??

ROSES. Our full range is now available. We have so many bushes we've had to open up the grow-zone out the back of the nursery. If roses are your thing, head onto the website and type "rose" into the search engine. Knock yourself out. 😂

ALSTROMERIA. Lots of "oohing" and "aahing" over the colour of the Princess Lily that arrived today. Alstromeria Batavia.

NATIVE NEWBIES:

💙 Leptospermum spectabile, or Colo River Leptospermum. Very limited quantity.
💚 Melaleuca Candy Sparkles in 140 mm and 200 mm pot sizes.
❤ RED RED RED NSW Christmas Bush.
💜 Silver Weeping Leptospermum. Jiminy crickets these plants have been a wait!!
🧡 Purple Cootamundra Wattle is finally back in stock.

ON THE FRUIT FRONT:

We have low-chill cross-pollinating DWARF Cherry Trees. Trixzie "Royal Crimson" and Trixzie "Minnie Royal". These are being sold as a pair. For $139 you get one tree of each, in 250 mm pots. Christmas present to self??

Pomegranate Rosavaya. These are self-pollinating and can be kept pruned to 2 m.

CREPE MYRTLES:

New dwarf varieties (growing to 1.8 m tall). "Purple Magic", and "Plum Magic". "New Orleans" is another shorty (unlike this Facebook Post). 🙄

HIBISCUS:

A double-flowered apricot called "Mrs Andreason". I have this in my own garden and it's one of my favourites.

RHODOHYPOXIS:

Sounds like a disease, but it's actually a hot pink stunner. Always a big hit with planties.

OOH - and lastly - we're trialling the SUPERTUNIAS. We've planted one of each in a 250 mm pot and we are going to post a pic each week so you can watch their progress. Are they worth the hype??

Come into the nursery this weekend and check out our Frilly Knickers!!

Nooooooo......it's not what you're thinking! 😂😂

It's the Frilly Knickers Fringe Lily! Native, and super cute.

Now what OTHER exciting things have been going on this week??

Grevillea Coral Shore flowered!! I'm in lurv!! 🧡🧡 What a fantastic colour! Brewery Hill Native Garden - Love Your Work!!

FRANS PINK Kangaroo Paws have come in, which can be grown in the ground in our part of the world. We already have Landscape Gold, Landscape Tangerine, and Landscape Scarlet.

Melaleuca Candy Sparkles is back in stock. GREAT plant. Everyone needs one in their life.

Agapanthus Fireworks is FINALLY back in stock.

Native Jasmine? ✔
Compact variety (1 m) of Midgenberry? ✔✔
Mount Spurgeon Black Pine? ✔✔✔

We have variegated Weigela in flower, and the Crepe Myrtles are starting to arrive. The dwarf varieties "Pinky Pink" (1.2 m) and "Endless Summer Red" (1.5 m) have made an entrance, though it's too early for them to be in flower yet.

Our first round of roses are on the benches and are blooming with health. We have the Naheema climbing rose with it's incredible fragrance as well as Pierre de Ronsard and Red Pierre.

Standard roses are another week away.

I've managed to find some grafted grevilleas in 140 mm pots, which makes them a little more affordable than the normal range (which come in 200 mm pots). Grafted grevilleas are tough and are a much better option if you have tough spots or clay soil.

In the 140 mm pots I have

* Bush Lemons
* Amber Blaze
* Lollypops
* Katherine's Sister
* Ivory Whip

We have a Leptospermum Outrageous in full flower in a 250 mm pot in the nursery at the moment. It's really something!! Do you think I can get 140 mm pots of them to offer to you though??? Nooooooooo!!! Boss, we are unamused. ☹

Anyhoo - if you see it and you instantly decide you must have one - just leave your mobile number at the front counter. Once we track some down, we'll notify you with a text message.

Lastly, as a teaser, I am expecting a delivery on Thursday next week of some plants that are big hits but super-elusive.

I'm not saying ANYTHING else until they actually arrive in case pirates hijack the Pantec (or a daft supplier leaves our order on the printer), but if they DO come in as scheduled then Tania and I will be Happy Dancing around the nursery a little more than usual. 🤣

Guess what planty-peeps???? Princess Fancy-Plants had a visit from horticulture royalty last weekend!!

Dennis and Christine Nielsen (yes, THOSE Nielsons!! Nielsen's Native Nursery) popped in for a visit.

Generous with their time, knowledge and humour, it was an absolute pleasure. 😀

and later........(drum roll please)......Mr Nielsen left a 5-star review on Google!! Woot-woot!! 🍾

When nptification came through, Tania and I were doing the High-Fives-Happy-Dance around the nursery. (Do you remember Elaine's dancing on Seinfeld?? Just like that, but both of us at once.) 😂😂

Back down to earth though - what's new this week??

We are packed to the brim with flowering plants. Every colour of the rainbow.

Edna the Possum is back in the roof behind the checkout with her tail hanging out of the ceiling, I found a bird in it's nest in a pot of Magnolia Little Gem and Madge Magpie is still walking around the nursery wearing her imaginary high-vis vest.

Pimelea "Marshmallows" have arrived in full flower. I've had a delivery of hard-to-find camellias, such as Dream Boat, Adorable, Helenor, Tomorrow Park Hill and Nuccios Bella Rossa.

The first set of rose bushes are in the nursery and ready to roar-out-the-door.

We have an orange tree in full bloom which is making the entire nursery smell fragrant, and the magnolias and michelias are also flowering up a storm.

We're in the Sweet Spot of Spring where everything's starting to grow, but before the humity, grubs, and Slugs of Summer arrive.

Lasts about 10 minutes in Brisbane, so get your skates on and come and check it all out for yourselves!

What a week!! Trucks lining up behind each other to drop off new plants, wind blowing us left, right and sideways, so much spring colour we're easily distractes and the nursery is full of birds, bees and customers.

In short, we're having a ball!! 🤣🤣

Cousin It is back in stock, we have yellow buttons, conostylis, kangaroo paw and dwarf crepe Myrtles Pinky Pink and Endless Summer Red are also back. RED chysocephalum as well!

I started out by taking pics of new arrivals for you but then started to amuse myself by "painting with pots".

Never a dull moment in this joint!! 🤩😂

Teucrium Indigo Angel arrived today and knocked our socks off! Grey foliage and deep purple flowers.

Other new arrivals are grafted grevillea Purple Haze, grafted eremophila Gubburra Bells, and Grafted Baby Orange flowering gums.

Salvias, Queensland Silver Wattle and Grevillea Honeybird Yellow are back in stock.

Plenty of grafted grevilleas came in this week (a great option for if you have rubbish soil or clay.)

The nursery is busting at the seams with spring flowers, so why not stick your head in and say hello. Stop and smell the roses. 🤩

We received a new-for-us grevillea this week, "Coral Shore". What cracked me up though, was the back of the tag.

"Avoid Glyphosate W**d Killer".

Well take a bow Captain Obvious. 😂😂

Whoever added THAT to the tag deserves an OBE for Service to Horticulture. Or at least an automatic entry into the Horticulture Hall of Fame.

What else could we add??

Do not blowtorch.
Do not soak rootball in kero and then light.
