📍 Sydney, NSW | Heritage conservation + Passivhaus certification

The Glover Passivhaus is one of our favourite reminders of what's possible when architecture, sustainability, and craft come together from day one.

What started as a dilapidated California Bungalow — vacant for years, with a leaking roof and rotting timber — was transformed by Passive House certified architect Edward Dieppe of Dieppe Design into a certified Passivhaus family home. Rather than demolishing the original, Dieppe preserved the heritage California Bungalow streetscape and introduced a modern, open living extension at the rear. Character preserved. Performance maximised.

Achieving Passivhaus certification demands airtight construction, exceptional insulation, and glazing that works as part of a complete thermal envelope — not just a compliance checkbox. BINQ's timber windows and doors were specified to meet exactly that standard, delivering double-glazed, airtight performance with the craftsmanship the project deserved.

For architects, builders, and developers who want to push beyond compliance into genuine performance — this is the standard we're here to help you reach.

📍 South Marrickville, NSW

When architect Emily Sandstrom and her partner Chris Low discovered a neglected 1930s bungalow in South Marrickville, they saw something others might have walked past — history, character, and possibility.

Rather than starting from scratch, they chose to honour what was already there. Original brickwork was salvaged, floorboards uncovered, ornate ceiling mouldings carefully restored. And for the new 45m² U-shaped extension — an open-plan kitchen and dining room that connects seamlessly to a lush courtyard — they turned to BINQ timber windows and doors.

The result? Flood-it-with-light, floor-to-ceiling joinery that blurs the boundary between inside and out, all while keeping the home passively cooled in summer and warm through winter.

In their hearts, Emily and Chris aim to celebrate the house's authentic features and preserve its narrative and integrity. “𝑊𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑖𝑡 𝑎𝑠 𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑠 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑏𝑙𝑒, 𝑒𝑛ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒.”

It's the kind of home that proves sustainability and soul are not mutually exclusive — and we're honoured our timber windows played a part.

Where the Great Ocean Road meets considered design. 🌊

Our timber windows and doors were proud to be specified on this stunning Hall St residence in Lorne, crafted by the talented team at .

Perched on the front row with extraordinary coastal views, this project demanded products that could perform as beautifully as they look. BINQ's thermally efficient windows and doors were selected to handle the harsh coastal conditions — engineered to resist salt air, minimise heat loss, and frame those breathtaking views without compromise.

Australian-made. Built for Australia.

2 years ago, our timber triple-glazed windows were installed in a real passive house. So we went back — how are they actually holding up?

After an honest look at how these windows have performed over time in a real home, real conditions, here's what we found 👇

✅️ Still operating smoothly
✅️ Thermal performance is keeping the home warm in winter, cool in summer
✅️ Timber frame holding its shape
✅️ Seals intact, no drafts
✅️ Triple glazing is blocking outside noise effectively
✅️ Looking just as beautiful as day one

This is what high-performance windows are built for — not just the first winter, but every single one after that.
