Three years.
Here’s some before and afters. Back when I first viewed. She was a bit of a stinker, but I knew this old dog could do some new tricks….

Site update for Christchurch Town Hall, by Warren and Mahoney. 1972. Great to see this icon of New Zealand architecture not only retained, but restored with original fit out and fixtures. We fought hard for this one. Good to see it’s paid off. Can’t wait to go back into the city’s living room. Photos from #1972 @ Christchurch Town Hall

Recently completed project. Glendowie. Didn’t realise at our first client meeting that this house would be less for the client - but more for the collective family. Since becoming a gathering place for the whanou. With a few ideas and sketches from the client, it quickly developed into a very simple plan, open, but with little spaces hidden throughout making the 180sqm seem bigger than it is. Also important was future proofing. The ground floor den is designed big enough to be converted to a main bedroom with a nearby full bathroom hidden behind the kitchen. This means in years to come, the clients can move downstairs, not house. Another little treat of this house on it’s compact site are it’s hidden sight lines. The house is dissected several times end to end or surprising little windows with rewarding views for those who wonder around. You have to use the bathroom to find the hidden windows. Client is immensely happy and was talking about the next project before we’d finished. Nothing better than when client/builder/designer trifecta are in perfect balance. .construction #1251 @ 12:51 Architecture + Design

Such a massive fan of 's work. Not a huge demand for it in NZ as timber is the dominant domestic material for heritage (its a quake thing) but love his work in Melbourne. Not just the before and after but the process too.
