This beast! Wow! Few things I’ve found with it but definitely a great mower.

Be aware of Chinese made bearings in key areas of the mower. This machine had the 6204 and 6003 bearings very gritty and/ or clunky. The rear roller drive chain was rusted and very stiff. Maintenance issue there for sure but also moisture coming into the sidecover was an issue.

Then as I was about to load it to deliver it to the owner, the handlebars didn’t feel right. Something was loose. Top bar centre plate is broken. Very much the same as the Scott Bonnar bars in build design but this thing is a 25 inch mower. Plus, it is only 3 ish years old. Wow!

Way too small and thin in materials for such a big mower in my opinion. So now top bars off and welding time. Lucky I love welding.

Massive week! Wow!
So many repairs coming in on machines and also working on a few projects with the lathe (the lathe I had taken from my old house when I was a kid with my parents to my place in honor of my late dad).

Needs a bit of work and a good service but gets the small stuff done well.
Outer rings for rear roller bearings done and dusted.
They fit like a glove with the bearings in the freezer and the outer rings heated up. Put together with a tap fit, perfect.

One thing I get ask all the time is how low can I mow. Scott Bonnar and Rover 45s have a slight range of lowest heights but to be realistic, they really can only get to 5mm due to the frame design and bedknife thickness.

If you have modded a Scotty or Rover 45 to go lower, drop a comment below. Love to hear about what you have done and see your work on your yard.
Ps- I asked permission to take the mower into the loungeroom. 😜
