Solar study of one of our City Beach projects!

Understanding how sunlight moves across a site is a fundamental part of our design process. It helps us position living spaces, outdoor areas and openings to maximise natural light, improve comfort and reduce reliance on mechanical heating and cooling.

Afternoons on site.

We love the textural depth and warmth of the rammed limestone. This afternoon’s light beautifully showcases the richness of the material.

House 12, Swanbourne.

Designed around passive design principles, this home maximises natural light, ventilation and connection to the outdoors. A highly insulated envelope, double glazing and carefully considered shading work together to create a comfortable and energy efficient home year round.

A calm palette of natural materials brings warmth and texture throughout the interior, while generous openings connect the living spaces to the outdoors.

Details from our Old Corner Store project in Subiaco.

Preserving the character of the original building was central to the restoration. Existing skirtings and cornices were carefully matched to the remaining 1920s details, while brushed brass hardware was introduced to sit comfortably alongside the existing character of the home.

A key part of the restoration was the reinstatement of the original bullnose verandah, bringing back an important feature that had been lost over time.

This project went on to receive the Margaret Pitt Morison Award for Heritage Architecture at the Western Australian Architecture Awards.

Sunset at House 40, City Beach. Designed as a protected outdoor room, the upper terrace captures ocean views while maintaining privacy from neighbouring properties. The bar frames the sunset beautifully at this time of year.

Courtyards are a recurring element across our work.

They create private outdoor spaces that draw the focus inward, bringing light, air, and calm to the centre of the home. Designed for the Western Australian climate, they provide shelter from prevailing winds while opening to winter sun, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living.

Designed for Western Australian living.

Our Cottesloe project responds to the Perth climate, embracing natural light, ventilation, and year-round outdoor living, while capturing a narrow view corridor to the ocean.

The main living spaces and terrace are positioned on the upper level, where large double-glazed sliding doors open entirely, transforming the interior into a covered terrace and creating a seamless connection between inside and out.

An operable “sunroof” allows the space to adapt with the seasons. Fully watertight when closed, or open to the sky above.
