Hey friends!
As many of you would be aware the Blue House was recently sold and with that sale, Blue House Acre is sadly no more.
That home & acre of land was where my tiny dream of having my own little cut flower patch was born in the midst of an incredibly painful season. The flower patch I dug by hand was a way for me to release stress & hurt yet still create something beautiful and that is where the original flower patch was made. And while that home and space will always hold a special place in my heart, we have to close that chapter. And this is the final piece of that.
With that all being said I would like to introduce you all to this account’s new name,
Just B Grows.
This is account is a place for me to share all things gardening related and eventually document my journey towards a new flower patch that may become a small scale flower farm, because the dream of being a flower farmer is still there, strong as ever. I just had to put it aside for awhile, while I took care of some tough situations. But now life is about moving forward, planning positively for the future and working towards the dream.
Just B Grows is about all the things I’ll grow on our new little acre and knowing that even after destruction & trauma, growth still can and will happen.

Zinnias would have to be my favourite flower to grow and last year they gave me so much confidence with growing, I am so looking forward to this season with even more of these beauties…

A quick flower farm update, due to a change in personal circumstances the flower farm dream has been drastically scaled back at the moment. The flowers will still be grown and cut, but what that leads to I am not sure anymore… But the flowers will still be grown.

I’ve been a little quiet on this account as I haven’t had much to share, the garden has been silent - all the work is going on slowly below the surface but we are starting to see the beginning of some hopefully beautiful flowers!
This hyacinth shoot pleasantly surprised me today when I was out inspecting the flower patch.
An encouraging little reminder that even after being quiet and in the dark for so long, the little bulbs and seeds are slowly becoming something so beautiful.
Everything takes time.

Welcome to Blue House Acre.

On this account I’ll be documenting my journey of my gardening adventures.
I have a bit of a pipe dream, to have a small cut flower farm where I can sell little bunches of flowers at the front gate.
Is my dream possibly unrealistic?
Maybe…
Do I live in a town that gets very hot & fairly cold and is no stranger to drought?
Yes.
Is our soil quality fairly average & when dry, hard as a rock?
Also yes.
So environmentally I feel like I’m working against the odds, but lucky I enjoy hard work & a challenge.
Am I a professional gardener?
Not even close, I just really adore flowers and have very quickly fallen in love with gardening.
I’m winging this and learning as I go.
This is a journey with a lot of trial & error.
So could this fail? Maybe.
But look at the end of the day if all I achieve is a little patch of flowers that I can admire and also cut to put in my home and share with my friends, I’ll be happy.
But if I manage to sell 2 little bunches come spring time, I’ll be over the moon.
So I’m working hard, dreaming big and keeping the expectations realistic.
The support so far from friends, family & people I don’t even know has been unreal and honestly really touching, I don’t think I’ve ever had so many people be so supportive of me before, so I feel like that’s a good sign.
And most importantly of all I have 2 little cut flower farm apprentices who think this is so amazing & get just as excited as I do about beautiful flowers & their belief in me means the world.
