Message from the team…

“We have ALL been touched one way or another by loosing or witnessing our loved ones battle this unforgiving disease and its just horrible.

That is why we have decided to step "well" outside of our comfort zone, leave the kids behind, fundraise and more fundraising to raise vital funds and awareness for the Cancer Council, who do amazing work.

We will set out in our old Commodore, which Shayne has added some creative croccy flare to make the NT "Total Croc team" stand out in a crowd.

Sh*tbox Rally is the largest community lead fundraiser for the Cancer Council in Australia and is now in its 13th year. Part of the participation is that all teams have to raise a minimum of $5,000.

These funds go to the Cancer Council and we are extremely proud to be doing our part to support such a worthy charity”

Not all heroes wear capes 💪🏼

and defending our oceans one ghost net at a time 🐢🐟🦈 H&C thrilled to be a part of the Groote Eylandt community and contribute to the amazing work you do.

“These nets found around Groote and the wider Gulf of Carpentaria originate from Southeast Asia and travel down in currents, then seasonal winds push the nets into the Gulf heavily affecting the Groote Archipelago.

The impacts on marine ecosystems such as coastal reefs, beaches and islands with significant biodiversity are devastating. Fish, turtles and other marine species also suffer heavily from nets especially when drifting in open water. Ghost Nets also pose a major navigational hazard not only to shipping but also to recreational fishers who service these waters on a regular basis.

We have found a huge benefit working collaboratively with other stakeholders around Groote Eylandt to manage Ghost Nets and to retrieve and dispose of effectively. Through several programs and engagement strategies we have been able to increase awareness, gain additional resources and funding to tackle this issue on the remote beaches and pristine waters of the Anindilyakwa IPA.

We currently stockpile all Ghost Nets in the hope of recycling opportunities and its potential to be a possible resource in the near future”
