Gehry’s Louis Vuitton Fondation: Architecture and Art. Exploring the Balance Between Form and Function.

A recent visit to Gehry’s Louis Vuitton Fondation in Paris, as with all his projects, is challenging.

To best appreciate Gehry’s projects you need to visit them.

Complex, yes.

Resolved, yes.

Technical, yes

Obviously, this design is far removed from Haussmann’s Paris plan and that is the point – this is a halo project with its own very strong, visual identity and a lot of ‘look at me’ attitude.

Externally, the Louis Vuitton building is very complex – “sails over ice cubes” – while the interiors, exhibition spaces, ancillary areas and entry, are relatively simple.

Our visit raised the question:

Should a building be more important than its contents?

By comparison, the Musee d’Orsay, (opened in 1986) which houses priceless masterpieces of the impressionists and post-impressionist is housed in the former Gare d’Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station.

Commendation for Commercial Architecture | DKJ Projects Architecture | The Shed at NT Chapter Awards Ceremony on 4th June at Darwin Golf Club, Marrara.

Jury comments included: “The Shed joins an under-appreciated segment of architectural design - the industrial building. In the early twentieth century this type of building was seen as the harbingers of new ideas, while more recently the humble industrial building has fallen victim to efficiency and cost. The Shed however bucks this trend by creating an architectural statement in the centre of the Winnellie Industrial zone”. Congratulations DKJ Projects Architecture.

The Cyclotron Royal Darwin Hospital tops 2022 Northern Territory Architecture Awards - congratulations DKJ Projects Architecture
The Cyclotron at Royal Darwin Hospital has topped the 2022 Northern Territory Architecture Awards. The project was also awarded the Reverend John Flynn Award for Public Architecture and the prestigious Tracy Memorial Award, by DKJ Projects Architecture, during the Awards ceremony on Saturday 4th June at the Darwin Golf Club, Marrara on the Green with over 120 architects, sponsors and guests from the built environment.

We are looking for a Receptionist/Administration Manager to join our team.
Your duties will include:
Manage the Reception and Administration duties.
Manage accounts and bookkeeping (creditors/debtors) using ‘Xero’ accounting software.
Assist with preparation and formatting of Tender Submissions and Marketing Material.
Assist with Client liaison and marketing activities.
Attributes we look for include:
Experience in a similar role.
Customer service focus.
Diligent digital record keeping.
Accurate typing and proof-reading skills.
Ability to prepare creative and well-presented documents.
A desire to become an integrated member of our small happy team.

Career orientated and desire to learn new skills.
Contribute to the professionalism of our office.
Advantageous Qualifications:
Knowledge of Indesign/Microsoft publisher or other graphics software,
Knowledge of ‘Workflow Max’ software.
An understanding of Quality Assurance procedures.

Ready, Set, Build!!
Piling has begun on Cyclowest's New Cyclotron Facility in Perth,
DKJ has been commissioned as Architect and Lead Consultant and is proud to be involved in a project which is going to complement and expand the overall capacity of the health sector to diagnose and treat West Australians.
Great work by all involved to get the project to this stage.
