🤸🏻As designers, attending events like this isn’t a luxury. It’s part of the job. It is how we stay connected to the people shaping our industry. The suppliers pushing boundaries, the mentors sharing wisdom, the trend forecasters asking better questions, and the countless passionate creatives who continue to raise the bar.

🇮🇹Milan inspires me to dream bigger. Australia teaches me what is possible here and now. What products are arriving to our market, what innovations are emerging, and how evolving standards and codes will shape the homes we create tomorrow.

🤸🏻Most people know me as an interior designer.

What many don’t know is that after living overseas for 27 years, I returned to Australia and launched a natural pet treat business, driven by a long-standing passion in animal nutrition.

Before that, I had spent years studying interior architecture and working in design in London, New York & Middle East

I found my way back to what I love and founded JMJ Interiors here in Darwin.

Looking back, the path wasn’t particularly straight, ↩️ but every chapter taught me something valuable.

Twelve years later, I still feel grateful to do what I do every day 🙏🏼

What they don’t see are the hundreds of decisions made before a single cabinet is installed.
The planning.
The problem solving.
The conversations with trades.
The site visits.
The details measured, reviewed and refined.
This is the part of the process that protects the outcome.

Because a successful renovation is never the result of one good idea.

It’s the result of countless decisions made with purpose, experience and care.

Some pieces stay with you long after Milan ends…

The Jacqueline tap by GESSI was one of them🤎

We were invited into the world during our Milan trip, and what struck me most was the extraordinary level of craftsmanship behind this collection. 🎋Each bamboo root is individually sourced from Japan, then hand selected, shaped, treated, and transformed into something that feels both organic and impossibly refined.👌🏼
I love that it still honours the natural imperfections of the bamboo. Nothing feels forced or over manufactured. Just beautiful materiality, carefully considered design, and incredible engineering.

Finished in Warm Bronze, it feels soft, sculptural, and timeless.
A tap, yes.
But also a piece of art🤎

🫧 🫧Bathrooms at Salone this year felt immersive, expressive, and unapologetically layered Colour moved well beyond accenting🫧🛁

🫧 Tapware, vanities, basins, toilets, stone, and finishes were all working together within deeply considered palettes 🫧 rich ochres, warm burgundies, plum tones, earthy neutrals, and saturated mineral colours appearing with real confidence.

🫧🚿What made these spaces feel elevated wasn’t restraint in colour.
It was restraint in how beautifully everything was resolved.

🫧The strongest bathrooms balanced emotion, atmosphere, materiality, and function in a way that felt highly intentional rather than excessive.
❤️💚🤍Milan made one thing very clear:
🛁🚿Bathrooms are no longer purely functional spaces 🫧they are becoming immersive environments designed to be experienced emotionally❤️‍🔥
