. . . Well. . . Thats it. . . last day as Richard Clarke Painting and Decorating, even though its been in the pipeline for sometime, didnt really sink in till the stickers come off the van, and stood back and thought "she's all over". . . Well. . to a degree.
Bang on 30 years since starting up, and to be honest, loved every bit of it, met plenty of great clients, which turned in to great friends, done some varied and interesting jobs. . . And tried to maintain the highest possible standard.
A big thank you to all clients, friends and especially to Sideshow Steve (Steve Turner) for being either a full time or part time subbie for 14 plus years.
And to Carolyn Goob Garwood NeeGaby who now retires from book-keeping duties, hope you enjoy your redundancy payout🤔🤣
As of Monday, its over to Beardwood Pty. Ltd. as "Head" Painter, or as stated buy some, Richard "Dick"-Head Painter, (surely a better title is in the works, which I've been assured, it is🤣). But really want to thank Luke Beardwood and Emma Beardwood for taking a bit of a punt, and setting all this up, to establish a high end painting group, as part of their ever expanding, excellently run company, with great staff/employees.
I will endeavor to bring all the experience/knowledge i have and pass this on to the next generation of apprentices, to help keep the trade in good quality painters.

Its with a tinge of sadness but also great anticipation for whats to come, but for those interested, Richard Clarke Painting and Decorating will be ceasing operations at the end of March/April. Its certainly not due to lack of work or any health issues or anything like that and i will still be in the painting trade.
But after working as a sub-contrator and running my own business for over 30 years, i am going back to wages, so for the first since my apprenticeship, I'll be on a salary, with all the things that come with that, holidays, sick leave, super etc.
I have a unique opportunity to help set up and run a team of painters/apprentices as a leading hand with Beardwood Pty Ltd, to which the idea is to create a team of quality painters in a commercial/residential aspect, as the painting trade itself has really been on the decline for sometime, so we hope to remedy this, by creating a high quality painting team.
Would really like to thank Luke and Emma Beardwood for the opportunity to join their team of quality trades people, and the great team culture and exciting times that lay ahead.
I would also really like to thank all the clients and builders over the years for their business as many of these people have become really close friends.
I would like to think that all work thats been done over the years, that each and every person was always happy with their results.
And a shout out to Carolyn for all her book-keeping skills during that time.❤

. . . Fiiiiiiiiiiiinally finished this spectacular home today in Devonport, so much time and effort went into this. All the feature timber work (Porters timber inside and out, doors, staircase, window and door archs) prepared on site, sanded, all sanding sealed, sanded again, coated with satin Polyurethane, re-sanded, and coated again, to a beautiful smooth and silky finish. Quality furnishings and fit out throughout, a real credit to the building team, architect and tradies on an outstanding result, an absolute pleasure to be involved, and is up there with the biggest, high-end homes I've been involved with, in 30 plus years in the trade.
