Architecture + Design At Starbox Architecture we humanise spaces.

This means we create space that promotes social interaction, engagement and connection. We focus on spaces individually, collectively and how we experience spatial sequences. We take you on a collaborative journey testing ideas and strategies to develop a beautiful, detailed solution that meets your brief.

Architecture is often experienced in the details.

A curved edge, filtered light, deep glazing and a strong connection between inside and out — small decisions that shape how a building feels.

This home was designed to balance privacy, outlook and natural light, creating spaces that feel open, calm and connected to the landscape.

A house doesn’t always need to dominate the landscape.

Sometimes the strongest architectural response is the one that sits quietly within it — using the trees, slope, water, outlook and natural setting as part of the experience.

Here, the house is positioned to take in the view while still feeling embedded in the surrounding bushland. It’s elevated, but not disconnected. Present, but not overpowering.

Good architecture should respond to where it is.

Not just the view, but the site, the light, the privacy, the approach, the existing vegetation and the feeling of being there.

Designing solutions, not just spaces.

Don’t start with a sketch. Start with a strategy.

It’s tempting to jump straight into drawings when you’re excited about a new build, renovation or development.

But before a strong concept can be created, there are important things to understand first:

The site.
The brief.
The budget.
The planning rules.
The opportunities.
The constraints.
The direction.

That’s why we created the Project Game Plan.

It gives you clarity before moving into concept design, so the project starts with strategy rather than guesswork.

A better design outcome starts before the first sketch.

How can our ideas work here?

It’s one of the first questions people ask when they’re thinking about building, renovating or developing a site.

You might have the ideas.
You might have the land.
You might even have the Pinterest board.

But before jumping straight into design, it helps to understand what’s actually possible.

That’s where our Project Game Plan comes in.

We look at your brief, site, planning requirements, layout opportunities, materials and overall direction — so the project starts with clarity, not guesswork.

It’s not about locking in the final design.

It’s about creating a clear, strategic direction before the bigger decisions are made.

Start smart.
Design with purpose.
Move forward with confidence.

Views, texture and form starting to come together.

This coastal project is taking shape on site, with the upper level now revealing its connection to the ocean outlook and surrounding landscape.

The dark vertical cladding (Shou Sugi Ban) gives the home a strong, grounded presence, while the elevated balcony and large openings are designed to capture natural light, sea breezes and expansive views beyond.

Still a work in progress — but already showing the bones of what will become a refined, coastal home with a strong connection to place.

Small details can make a big difference in how a space is used.

Within the Devonport Football Club changerooms, this hidden fold-down media bench was designed for the coaches’ room to support player and game reviews without taking up permanent floor space.

When closed, it sits neatly within the wall recess. When opened, it provides a practical work surface for laptops, screens, notes and analysis — turning a compact space into a functional review zone.

A simple, robust detail that supports the way the club prepares, reviews and improves.

Poolside architecture with a coastal edge.

This home was designed to feel light, elevated and open — with crisp white cladding, warm timber-lined soffits and expansive glazing creating a relaxed coastal character.

The upper floor form is deliberately lifted and projected, providing shelter to the outdoor living area below while framing views and creating a strong architectural statement from the pool terrace.

The result is a clean, modern home that balances simplicity, warmth and lifestyle — designed for long summer days, outdoor living and connection to its coastal setting.

The Taroona - Interior

A soft, restrained material palette of limestone, timber and white surfaces creates warmth without competing with the outlook, while carefully framed openings pull in sunlight, sky and long coastal views.

The open stair, internal void and split-level planning help the spaces feel both generous and connected, giving the home a quiet sense of flow from entry through to living, kitchen and outdoors.

The Taroona. Exterior

A home shaped by outlook, light and coastal living.

This project balances a strong, sculptural street presence with open, elevated living spaces designed to capture views and connect directly to the outdoors. A robust material palette of limestone, crisp white weatherboards and warm Blackbutt timber soffits gives the home a calm, refined character while responding to its coastal setting.

The pool, deck and upper living level work together as one continuous outdoor room — framing long views and making the most of the site.
