Update !!
Day 16

The nature strip has progressed nicely and the more it gets mowed the more it will thicken up.
The progress on the side has been considerably slower most likely due to hardness of the ground and lack of water/seed pe*******on.
Now all of this was an experiment or cheaper side of having nice looking lawns but still would recommend aeration and dethatching your lawn first before top dressing with sand and seeding if necessary.
