🌱 How to Water Succulents in Melbourne
🗓️ 1. Adjust by Season
Summer (Dec–Feb): Water every 7–10 days. Hotter temperatures and more sun mean quicker soil drying.
Autumn/Spring (Mar–May, Sep–Nov): Water every 10–14 days depending on warmth and sunlight.
Winter (Jun–Aug): Water every 3–4 weeks, or even less if kept indoors. Succulents go semi-dormant and Melbourne tends to be wetter and cooler.
🧼 2. Use the “Soak and Dry” Method
Water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom.
Let the soil dry completely before watering again.
Always use a pot with drainage holes.
📍 3. Consider Your Location
Indoors: Water less often, especially if light is limited.
Outdoors: If exposed to rain, reduce manual watering. Move pots under cover during extended wet periods to prevent root rot.
🪨 4. Right Soil
Use a cactus/succulent mix or amend regular potting mix with sand or perlite for better drainage.
