The front door gets all the attention. The laundry door does all the work.

This is a back laundry door in Doreen, now fitted with an Invisigard security door in Woodland Grey. It is the door this family uses more than any other, out to the washing line, the bins, the backyard, and it used to be the weakest point on the house.

Now they can open it up to the deck for daylight and air, see straight through the fine 316 stainless steel mesh to the yard, and lock up with a turn of the handle when they head out. A usually dark, stuffy laundry suddenly feels a lot more liveable.

Two ways to do a security screen. Match it to the house, or make a feature of it.

This Wollert home is finished in Surfmist, and instead of blending the screens in, the owners chose Monument for contrast. The result is these Invisigard stacking sliders framing the back of the house in a clean, dark line. It looks deliberate, and it looks great.

Behind the good looks is 316 marine-grade stainless steel mesh. You see straight through to the yard, you keep the light, and the most-used doors in the house are finally secure. On a milder winter afternoon you can slide them open for fresh air and keep the flies out.

This is the kind of job that quietly finishes a house.

Not the flashiest install in the feed. But it's the one that stops you swatting flies every time the laundry door is open.

Flywire screen in black with a solid kick panel. Fitted into a narrow side passage, colour-matched to the door next to it.

Some openings need full security mesh. Some just need a good flyscreen that fits properly and lasts. Knowing the difference is half the job.

The leadlight has been in that door for over a hundred years. The new security screen lets you see it.

That was the whole point of this Balwyn install. The owner didn't just want security on the front door. They wanted something that respected the home.

Daylesford 1 heritage casting in white with 316 ss mesh. The decorative pattern was designed for homes like this. Scalloped corners, baluster rail, and a profile that sits alongside the original timber detailing instead of competing with it.

White frame on a white weatherboard. It blends in rather than standing out, and the open mesh keeps the Art Nouveau leadlight visible from the porch.

Security for the home. Character left exactly where it was.

When a school needs security screens, the product has to earn its place.

St John's Primary in Thomastown. New building. Modern architecture. Multiple large openings onto courtyards and outdoor learning areas.

The screens had to do three things at once. Lock the building down when it needs to be locked. Let light and air flow through during the day. And not get in the way of supervision through the glass.

Invisi-Gard double sliders in monument across every opening. Stainless steel mesh. From the classroom, the view through the screens is almost the same as the view through the glass beside them.

Open plan only works if you can actually see outside.

This Hurstbridge home has a covered outdoor area right off the living room. Lounge, brick paving, ceiling fan, and bush on every side. The sliding door opening is the connection between inside and out.

A heavy grille or a thick flyscreen would have broken that. The owner went with Invisi-Gard in shale grey. Double slider, stainless steel mesh, full security. And from the living room, the view through the mesh is almost the same as the view through the glass panels beside it.

That's the difference with Invisi-Gard on a big opening. It secures the space without closing it off.
