Opening Date Information - Saturday, May 24th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Historically, May 17th/18th have not been safe dates, temperature-wise, to plant warm-weather crops such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. In fact, on Sunday, May 18th our low is to be just 3 degrees! And on Monday, May 19th, the low is to be 4 degrees.

The up and down temperatures have prevented us from properly hardening off our seedlings, grown organically right here in Dunrobin. As a result, our first day open this year will be Saturday, May 24th. It is important to us to sell only hardy, healthy plants.

Please note: cucumber, zucchini, squash and pepper plants, if under 10 degrees for a couple of days, can suffer damage. Tomato plants, if flowering and under 10 degrees for a couple of days can produce cat-faced fruit months later.

On another note, due to health issues, we have focused on edibles this year, as well as canna lilies. You may look forward to seeing these plants for sale on May 24th:

beefsteak tomatoes
paste tomatoes
cherry tomatos
micro dwarf tomatoes
sweet peppers
hot peppers - many specialty ones, ie., Sugar Rush Peach
slicing cucumbers
pickling cucumbers
zucchini
watermelon
pumpkin
tomatillos
huckleberry
ground cherry

Canna Lilies
Pink, red, yellow and orange

Herbs:
lavender
chives
parsley
rosemary
oregano
dill
cilantro
chamomile

Flowers, many in moderate quantities:
marigolds - large quantity
canna lilies - large quantity
dahlias - 3 types
black eyed susan
blue eyed grass
zinnias
pansies/violas
specialty petunias
and a few other types

4° low overnight this evening. Cover your tender annual vegetable plants.

The next 3 days have quite low bottom temperatures. 3 days in a row of these temps can damage many plants such as tomatoes and cucumbers.

Fall Gold Raspberry

Absolutely delicious and sweet berries. This self-fertile raspberry bush provides two crops each year: one in June and one in late summer/early fall.

Very winter hardy. Excellent for eating fresh, freezing for smoothies or making preseves.

This robust berry bush will create baby bushes and spread, making it an excellent choice for an edible hedge.

2nd year plants that will fruit this year.

Please don't use Google Maps or Waze to get here. It sends you to Julia Estates for some reason and we have tried countless times to get this fixed to no avail.

If you come up Thomas Dolan Parkway to get here, turn left onto Torwood and we are about 3km on the north side of Torwood. If you come up Vances Side Road to get here, turn right on Torwood.
