In this video, I’m tackling a window frame makeover! If you want a smooth, durable, and professional-looking finish that lasts, you can’t just slap paint on. Join me as I go through the entire process, from prep to the final glossy coat.
Here is the step-by-step process I followed to get that flawless semi-gloss look:
Step 1: Preparation & Sanding
We start by roughing up the existing surface to help the new paint adhere. I’ll show you how to sand effectively without damaging the glass or surrounding walls.
Step 2: Gap Filling
Over time, frames develop cracks and holes. I use a flexible filler to repair these gaps, ensuring a perfect surface before we even think about paint.
Step 3: The "Micro Dust" Cleanup (Crucial Step!)
Sanding creates a fine dust that will ruin your paint finish if left behind. Instead of just wiping with a dry cloth (which just flicks dust into the air), I use a wet rag to trap and completely remove every single particle. This is the secret to a glass-smooth finish!
Step 4: The Undercoat
A good undercoat/primer is essential for coverage and durability. I apply one even coat to seal the filler and provide a perfect base for the color.
Step 5: The Topcoats
Finally, the reveal! I apply two coats of semi-gloss paint. I’ll share my tips for avoiding brush marks and drips to achieve that "sprayed-on" look using a brush and roller.
