Su***de in not just men, but everyone, it is a really important issue and it is something that everyone needs to come together as a collective, and discuss openly without the fear of reprisal from others, or the fear of being ostracised.
There is a certain air around this issue, especially within the male demographic. To most of us males, talking about these types of issues, we see it as being "weak" because these are the values that were instilled into our parents from theirs, and for some of us in this current generation, it was unfortunately instilled into us and our psyche, our mindset, our way of thinking
It is disheartening to read that the single biggest killer of men aged under 45 is su***de. In 2014, 4623 took their own life in Australia. That's 12 men every day.
1 man every two hours!
41% of men who contemplated su***de felt they couldn't talk to anyone about how they felt and this is not an acceptable number. We need to ensure that 100% of people feel that they are able to talk about their problems
It is time to remove the negative notion around not only su***de, but ALL mental health issues, for EVERYONE!
It is time to realise that it IS NOT WEAK TO SPEAK. This is such an important message among men and women. Its OK to talk to your family, talk to your mates, talk to anyone, we ARE here and we WILL listen. If you know me personally, feel free to call or message me if you ever want to talk about any issues that you are having. I'd be more than happy to listen.😊
