Folks hope all your hives have faired OK. But the most important tip I can give you is this. Now that it has stopped blowing and raining in most areas, take your hive / hives and tip them forwards at 90deg towards the entry. If any rain has blown in, drain it out the entry hole. DO NOT LEAVE WATER in the hive.

Some interesting facts for you all. Back in 2020 Noosa Shire Council (to their credit) amended their policy on NATIVE BEES.

(The Noosa Plan 2020 does not ban beekeeping in urban areas – it is silent on bee keeping in urban areas, just like it is silent on keeping chickens or domestic animals. If you are housing native bees for their biodiversity value it's no different to putting up nesting boxes for possums or birds.12 Nov 2020)

Around the same time I spoke with Sunshine Coast City Council and explained they did not differentiate between European Honey Bees (Apis mellifera) and our Stingless Native Bees. I was told that it would take 12 months to get the by-laws amended.
The only information I can find at present for SCCC is as follows.

You must not keep a bee hive on a lot that is smaller than 400 square metres. You must not keep more than two bee hives on a lot greater than 400 square metres and less than 1000 square metres. You must not keep more than five bee hives on a lot greater than 1000 square metres and less than 2000 square metres.

Must be time to try again. Noosa seem to have the idea.

Made a bit of a hive for my grandsons. Their pet dog vinnie passed away recently.
They will be able to remember her with the bees coming and going.

Just a bit of fun this hive. Terrible video but lucky an old bloke like me can actually make one. Hope the Native Bees have a really good GPS.

A recent trip to Cobbold Gorge North West Qld certainly told me that our Native Bees are doing well in the bush.
