Meet Our Team Member: Hugo Irving-Hyman

Hugo serves as our key sales representative, overseeing the management of our showroom.

We recently had the opportunity to pose a series of questions to Hugo:

2. What is your role at Jomon Hardware ACT?

I am part of our counter sales team, specializing in residential and commercial maintenance, with a focus on resolving a wide range of problems.

3. How long have you been with Jomon Hardware ACT?

I joined the Jomon ACT sales team in early 2025, and I have been working here for just over a year.

4. What do you find most rewarding about working in the door hardware industry and with Jomon Hardware ACT?

I find satisfaction in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to door hardware. Whether it's identifying the ideal brand to match mixer finishes or finding a specific spare part, these challenges engage my problem-solving skills.

5. What are your hobbies?

Outside of work, I enjoy playing cricket and watching rugby (both codes), as well as DIY carpentry and fabrication. I also appreciate spending time outdoors camping and have a passion for electronic and dance music, which I occasionally create. I love attending bush doof doofs or raves for the music they create and play. Additionally, I have a background in playing the cello, piano, and percussion.

6. What is your favourite food?

I appreciate a wide variety of foods and do not have a single favourite, as I enjoy trying different cuisines.

7. What is your favourite colour?

I have a known affinity for the colour pink.

8. What is your favourite animal?

My favourite animal is the cheetah, although friends often tease that I resemble a small grizzly bear, possibly due to my physical appearance or demeanor “maybe due to my hairy chest or my cuddly personality I’ll leave that up to you” .

Meet Our Team Member: Sasha-Rodney Douch

Sasha is a recent addition to our sales team in the showroom.

We had the opportunity to ask Sasha a few questions:

I consider myself an apprentice, but officially, I'm the newest sales representative on the team.

3. How long have you been with Jomon Hardware ACT?

I joined the sales team in early February 2026 and have enjoyed every moment since.

4. What do you find most rewarding about working in the door hardware industry and with Jomon Hardware ACT?

I find it highly rewarding to engage with clients, understand their problems, and provide proactive solutions that cater to their needs. Witnessing clients' satisfaction, particularly when I contribute to their home renovations or door hardware needs, is fulfilling. The team at Jomon Hardware ACT has been exceptional in welcoming me and sharing their knowledge.

5. What are your hobbies?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my 9-month-old son, Ledger, which occupies most of my evenings and weekends. Occasionally, I like to watch movies.

6. What is your favourite food?

From my plastering days, I've developed a fondness for chicken schnitzel, which has become a staple in my diet.

7. What is your favourite colour?

Given my love for the ocean, I would say my favorite colour is blue.

8. What is your favourite animal?

My son, Ledger, is affectionately known as 'Little Panda,' so I'd say panda is my favourite animal.

Meet Our Team Member: Cheyne Riley, Second in Charge at Jomon Hardware ACT. Pronounced as 'Shane' for clarity.

Cheyne primarily works in our project estimating team, focusing on commercial sales and scheduling. We had the opportunity to ask Cheyne a few questions:

12 years, having joined on the first day of operations.

4. What do you find most rewarding about working in the door hardware industry and with Jomon Hardware ACT?

With 19 years of experience in the industry, I appreciate the variety that commercial sales offers, from specifying door hardware to designing solutions for projects like Defence Blast Proof Doors. Being part of the Jomon Hardware ACT team is highly rewarding due to the camaraderie with colleagues and long-standing customer relationships. Seeing the impact of well-selected hardware on a space and the satisfaction it brings to our clients is particularly fulfilling.

5. What are your hobbies?

Fishing is a favorite pastime, offering a serene escape, even if the fish aren't always biting.

6. What is your favorite food?

Homemade Italian spaghetti, a recipe passed down through generations, stands out for its unique taste and aroma.

7. What is your favorite color?

Blue, and white ‘go the doggies' 😂

8. What is your favorite animal?

The crocodile.
