Established in 2010, Bespoke Architects is the collaborative union of Daniel Calder and Nicole Walters. Both are Architecture Graduates from Deakin University School of Architecture and Building. She is a passionate renovator and is currently undertaking her third residential renovation. Daniel is a Registered Architect, who lives in Ocean Grove, VIC. He is an impassioned designer who is currently

constructing his first house. Bespoke Architects is a boutique studio, with a strong focus on design and client satisfaction. We are focused on working with clients from the concept stage of projects through to contract administration and the completion of construction to ensure the client’s vision is realised. Our design ethos is to create spaces that respond to context of the site, taking full advantage of views and orientation and capturing the essence of the client. We believe that buildings should reflect the current and future needs of the occupants as well as their personalities. Clients purchase property and sites due to an emotional connection they feel with the location, it is our job as architects to translate this connection into a tactile structure.

The gas log insert fire of the Hood House. For this first floor open plan living, dining and kitchen area, with amazing views over Half Moon Bay, the clients where after a feature fireplace that blended with the room rather than becoming a focal point. We opted for a long horizontal insert type from the "Heat & Glo" range. We designed the fireplace to aline with the floating window seat on the right and floating joinery drawers on the left. The fireplace was narrow enough to place the TV above.

The double side cast iron wood firbox "Nelson" on a custom concrete heath from The Golf Course House. This double sided fireplace is a combustion type fireplace that sits on a bespoke concrete hearth and acts as a room divider between the dining and living. We kept the fireplace low at coffee table height and provided open concrete containers at each end for wood storage in winter (and indoor plant storage in summer).

The roof line of The Marlin Renovation Alfresco. We created this new steel structure in the confines of the existing retaining wall. We used a skillion roof to draw the eyes upward from inside the home and under the alfresco up the steep backyard towards the sky. This structure while complimentary was not intended to blend with the existing home but rather be it's own style, that maxmised the space and the view.

We have included some before photos that show the freestanding alfresco structure the clients loved to use, but was disconnected from the house and was not big enough for year round outdoor entertaining. These photos where taken by

The roof lines of Devon Renovation. We added two new roofs to the original tiled roof line of this Post War Home on the Geelong Waterfront.

The existing dining room was a converted balcony, that had retained the a flat roof that mirrored the flat roof above the main entry porch. However this meant the ceiling inside was low. So we add a hipped turret style tiled roof and raised the ceiling.

We also extended the hipped roof over the master bedroom east creating space for a window to face the view. The extended hipped roof sits behind the flat roof of the main entry porch.

The roof lines of APCO Service Stations, there is variation between the stores both in terms of layout and form. However the fuel canopies are consistent across all sites. We employ a standard external material pallet for the stores consisting of grey, black and timber which allow the signage to stand out.

The roof lines at the Collectors House. Here we are showing you contemporary addition at the rear, which is not visible from the street. And the original 1950s brick veneer triple front.
Not only did we provide a contrast in form but also in materials. It is an addition that was intentionally different from the original home, but employing the same level of low maintenance materials. The asymmetrical roof line of the addition employees the original roof angle on only the short side.
