Storytellers we are, our aim is to recreate a community where children can live, learn and be kids in Northern Territory, Australia. Old stories, folktales about a leaf, a spiritual god and distinctive totem poles have been told again by our architectural designs. This design educates children the crease of Pandanas leaves – presenting diverse vegetation around covering human lives. The folktale of Namarrgon – a lightning god who brings thunders and rain water through wet season is recreated in the communal space teaching locally to kids why we should respect mother earth. Also, totem poles – used as border lines to identify clans’ territory or in memorial events; are collected from different clans with different paintings, designs and gathered around the building to divide vegetable and fishing farms and help kids learn about solidarity. The round shape of the building is put half on land half on water presenting symbolically the aboriginal flag. Solutions for the local climate are designed harmoniously with concepts.
People plant trees, stories plant people. This land has brought stories to us and our aim is just to retell the stories.
