🛑 BANNED?... For the first time in 40+ years of selling fruit trees, one of our pistachio trees triggered a Payment "compliance investigation".

The culprit?

🥜 Pistachio - Kerman Female

Customers had their transaction declined. We spent days trying to work out why.

Finally the email arrived:

"....Sale of items that may originate from Iran"

At first we thought it had to be a mistake.

The funny part is that we weren't selling pistachio nuts from Iran.

We were selling grafted pistachio nut trees to Australian customers.

The "Kerman" in the name refers to a famous pistachio variety, but Kerman is also a province in Iran where pistachio nuts are grown and exported around the world.

Somewhere along the way, a computer appears to have connected the dots and decided our Australian-grown pistachio trees might actually be pistachio nuts from Kerman in Iran.

So we found ourselves uploading photos of trees, explaining how grafted pistachio trees are propagated using Australian plant material, and proving that they are 100% Australian grown and sourced.

Thankfully common sense eventually prevailed and our customers can once again buy the Female Kerman pistachio Nut trees.🌱😄
