Project spotlight: The Quarters

When we designed the home, we wanted to maximise natural light throughout while taking advantage of the views to the north and south of the property. That's why we've used large picture windows, french doors and the entryway void to allow for ample light whilst taking in the gorgeous surrounds.

As this was a knockdown rebuild, we wanted to stay within the current footprint of the existing structure. So to give us more room, and to enjoy better views of the ocean, we built up! This also allowed for a division between living space downstairs and private bedrooms upstairs.

While the home still isn't completely finished yet, so far it is everything we had dreamed of.

A well-designed staircase can become one of the most memorable features in a home.

Every detail plays a part, from the balustrade and flooring to the lighting and architectural finishes. We love how the staircase in Burradoo strikes the perfect balance between timeless, modern and minimal, creating a subtle statement that feels right at home with the rest of the design.

Winter has a way of highlighting how well your home performs.

Condensation on the windows, rooms feeling damp and stale air that doesn't seem to clear until the weather warms up. It's the time of year many homeowners start noticing mould and moisture where they hadn't before.

While no home is completely immune, thoughtful design can go a long way in reducing the conditions that allow these issues to develop. From encouraging cross ventilation and maximising natural light to managing condensation and selecting durable materials, many of the decisions that contribute to a healthier home happen long before construction begins.
