Shortlisted!!! Grands Designs Australia- Danthonia Passive House

We took a fly in/fly out trip to Sydney on Tuesday to attend Grand Designs Magazine Australia Awards. So proud that Danthonia Passive House was Shortlisted for both Small New Home and Best Energy Efficient Home categories and that we could represent Passive House in these awards.

Congratulations to all the winners and those highly commended. All looked like such amazing projects!

Anthony Burke was incredibly inspiring. All his points about the direction he and the other judges went when deciding winners and the direction they hope architecture in Australia should go completely resonated me and what I wish to achieve in my work. It felt like he put clear and concise words to all my own feelings and ideals, truely moving.

Huge thank you to everyone who voted! It meant so much to me to have this house be recognised by so many people because I get the warmest feelings when I see my clients so happy in their house and that we were able to go on this journey together. It was a true privilege to be part of.

My first Australian Institute Architecture , Victoria Chapter Awards!!

Danthonia Passive House didn’t make it past the shortlist, but that didn’t matter because the other projects were amazing and I spent the night supported my by wonderful clients Melanie and Trevor and husband Adrian.

I wish I could have advocated more for Passivhaus to my peers, that was the only thing more I could have wished for.

Thank you to everyone for your support to get this far, especially and and my family and friends.

Just booked tickets to the AIA Vic Chapter Awards night! Ok, it’s still over a month away, but I am so excited.

After such a wonderful Sustainable House day for Danthonia Passive House, at the start of the month I am hoping that I get a chance to spread the word on Passive House to my peers at the awards as well.

How cool is the badge from the AIA Vic Chapter for Danthonia Passive House!

As it’s my first entry, every step is a new exciting surprise! No idea I was getting this badge.

Everything in a Passivhaus is calculated, even the extent of the roof line is measured to ensure that no direct sun enters the home in the hottest months, but is welcomed in as it gets cooler.
