I was going to water this morning but we had 5mls of rain overnight. I was hoping we would get a bit more but you can never tell.

100mls in just over 2 hours was a bit more than I was expecting!!

Our top dam was about 2/3rds full it overflowed in places we have never seen before, I could see the waterfall from the lounge room window 😂

Everything is going to be very boggy for a while but I’m sure the garden is going to love it!

Tanks are full, both dams are overflowing, it is an interesting start to the wet season. The photo is from yesterday 😊

So technically not garden related but hopefully will help someone! I’ve had chooks for 20 or so years. If you are lucky enough to have your own eggs or have been given some fresh eggs you probably know how hard they are peel when you hard boil them!!

Over the years and by googling like mad I now have a fool proof method:
• Place 1-2 Tbls bicarb soda into pot, add water and bring to the boil.
• Using a ladle carefully put eggs in (I usually leave them on the ladle for 10 or so seconds to stop cracking) boil for 10 mins
• Take off heat and cool immediately with cold water. I just run it under the tap for 20-30seconds.
• Peel straight away. I tap the egg all over on the side of the sink to break the shell and start peeling from the rounded end where the air sack would be.

The eggs below were done last night and were only 24 hours old 😌

Today is a day I have been waiting for. Some of my Daylilies have bloomed!!

These are all from bare root plants I got three years ago. Up until now most of them have been in small pots so this year is the first time they have set multiple beautiful stems ❤️❤️❤️

A bit late for today but beauties found on today’s walk!

The bleeding heart vine is another sentimental plant. I remember it growing in a relatives garden. This person also inspired my gardening passion from a very young age. Stories to be shared soon!

Tonight I am back to taking a purposful walk around the garden to find the amazing things instead of just looking at everything that needs to be done. How often do we just get consumed with the things that are going wrong or the things I haven’t got to yet? Slow down and smell the roses ❤️❤️❤️

Here are my top three for today:

1. My little gem magnolia is doing amazing and is flowering like mad and has lots more to come.

2. Dang this little desert rose was literally just sticks 6 weeks ago and now OMG!

3. The poinciana tree is opening its first blooms!

If you relate go and take a photo of something and share it here on this post!!

It’s been a long day, things have been a little up and down recently. Picking some stuff from the garden for my dinner tonight reminded me that there is always something to be grateful for ❤️
