This townhouse experienced a shower leak in the downstairs lounge room. Aus Home Maintenance investigated and found that the waterproofing around the shower waste pipe had failed, resulting in water damage. The lounge ceiling was opened by cutting out the damaged area. The shower screen was removed, and the shower tiled floor and base were jackhammered. Two rows of side shower tiles were cut and removed, and old villa boards were cut away. The old waterproofing was removed from the sides and shower floor, and the area was cleaned. A plumber was engaged to fix the waste pipe drainage. Once the plumber completed the repairs, under-tile cement sheeting was installed. New villa boards were installed into the sides of the shower, ready for tiling. After the tiling was complete, the shower screen was reinstalled, and silicone was applied around the shower and old shower screen. The area is now awaiting tenant use and will be inspected after several weeks for any signs of water damage. If no damage is found, the ceiling and cornice downstairs in the lounge area will be repaired, plastered, sanded, undercoated, and painted to complete the repairs.
