Every now and then we finish a job and then all the other finishing trades come through with their tools and cords and equipment and hand marks and fittings and anything else they think they can bring into to potentially damage our quality final coats and after a few weeks or months go by we get the call from the contractor to come back and fix everything that needs fixing due to the above mentioned scenarios and today was one of those days and today we are really actually finished this time!

Today’s task was to set up mobile aluminium Scaffolding from Kennards hire to gain access to ceiling height of 6.5 meters as so we can reach the top of the tilt slab wall for the preparation process and remove the release agent used during building and pouring of the slab walls which involves applying Tilt wash by microfibre mop and scrubbing with a little elbow grease and scourer pads with handles for ergonomic comfort and thoroughness prior to rinsing washing solution off with clean water to remove all traces of the product. On tilt panel jobs in the past we have pressure washed the walls at around 2000psi to remove the release agent however with this particular project being occupied pressure washing was not an option. The next stage is to apply two coats of Dulux Acratilt in the clients choice of colour for a you guessed it premium Nawrocki painting finish and when applying these coats we generally achieve 10m2 per litre with a wet film thickness of 100 microns as per manufacturers recommendations.

Another one down a nice little kitchen renovation one coat of Dulux total prep followed by two coats of Dulux professional ceiling flat on ceilings and skylights two coats of Dulux Wash and wear low sheen on the walls and two coats of Dulux Aquanamel semi gloss on the door and window frames. (The Aquanamel range is a water based semi gloss or high gloss finish which once cured leaves behind no odours unlike the oil based gloss enamel from yesteryear which is fantastic for the client and the applicator)We had to give the walls and joinery a second undercoat on this one as the final coat was Dulux Vivid white straight from the can no tint which mean it covers as well as a mankini in the winter time on a ski slope at Thredbo. A top little job a stones through away from the ocean where we could hear the waves crashing at smoko which was hard to take. Another happy customer and onto the next one 👏

And then they were white well Lexicon half actually. One coat of Dulux total prep of the gun and sanded to perfection prior to two coats of Dulux Aquanamel Satin (water based which is both user and client friendly being low odour) sprayed on with our faithful Graco Contractor Sprayers 695 2 and tipped with 230 mm micro fibre door sleeve for a premium finish

No lies or deception simply stripping back the coats and putting on the new ones. Here we have 75mm hardwood chamfer boards freshly sanded with the trusty Milwaukee 125mm angle grinder with rubber backing pad and 36 grit sanding disk followed by a coat of water based primer ready for two coats of Dulux Weathershield Gloss Acrylic for a quality finish. Another part of the process is to punch the nails below the surface and coat them with Metal shield cold gal in a spray can prior to filling the holes with Linseed oil putty to hold back the surface rust on the nail heads because if you skip this job the rust will bleed through the finish coats and make the new paintwork look second hand within no time especially on projects by the sea.

Doors are fantastic things to lock yourself away from burglars and unwelcome wildlife but when you have to take them off in a new build to coat the top and bottom edges for protection and to also keep the hinges clean from over spray setting them up in a makeshift spray booth in the living area is a great option as it saves time not having to move them a hundred times each whilst working on the walls and also a very efficient way to coat the doors in a common space and convenient way
