Here's an example of how readily black elder will root in water or moist soil. This is a very thick piece I pulled out of my aquaponics and just dumped into a fishtank. It's rooting from wood about twice as thick as my thumb.

I was having a look at one of my outdoor worm bins that's a bit of an experiment with basically a large pot with crushed up leaves, some potting mix and European nightcrawlers and I saw the most fascinating thing. I dug a worm out, and I thought it may have been sick as it was very constricted just forward of the clitellum, but then what looked like a small plastic ring shot forward and the worm shot forward and the worm got out of it. And it became a new cocoon. So apparently they form on the outside of the worm.

Unfortunately I didn't get a photo as everything happened too fast.

There's something special about having your littlest excited about food you've grown. He even followed me under the tree and started eating the ones that had fallen. Had to stop him doing that though cause they had ants and stuff :)

I mixed some worm castings into a $3 potting mix a while back to use for seed raising. Then forgot about the bag. Today I went to move it and thought I had a bunch of weeds growing. Turns out I had a lot of tomato seeds in the worm castings and they have germinated in the bag.
