First eight seedlings of the next hybrid, with twelve more nearly ready, Olivia’s Pink X Aussie Gold. Hoping for a minimum of purple flowers with yellow skinned fruit, but expecting to have to back cross them with Aussie Gold again for the yellow skin to show. Maybe the start of a six to seven year project of producing a purple flowered, pink fleshed, yellow skinned fruit.

A good thing about our location is that it’s semi rural, with large blocks 3/4 acre and up. Alpacas over the road and sheep next door, perfect set up for a childhood most city kids don’t get on postage stamp sized blocks they sell these days.

Finally we’re pleased to announce after months of stressing, the launch of our website. It includes, varieties for sale, cultivation notes and even recipes you may like to try. It only has 20 varieties on there at present, but we plan to add more over the next 12 months, expand cultivation notes to assist your growing journey and more recipes as my master chef wife Maya Emilia produces them.

Rare varieties, expert cultivation advice, and seasonal recipes — all grown and shared from Simon's farm in Champion Lakes, WA.

I’m glad to announce to those who decided to get pollen from us this year, we together have raised $256 for another very worthy charity, a charity and talented lady who’s research I’ve benefitted from in the last year. I thank all of you who got pollen from us and I hope to donate much more to another charity next year.

Thank you all

Ax X Delight #2

Turned out to be a bit disappointing, being a white flesh. Picked at day 67, ripened slowly and late seeing as winters close. The late picking explains the slight seed germination and with growing it on and harvesting it around the four week mark I’m confident we’d end up with a 500g, white flesh, with none of the seed germination issues. Not sure if we’ll grow it on, but we have another eleven seedlings of the same cross that’ll hopefully bloom next season.

Day 27 from blooming ( took the photo yesterday ), no signs of ripening yet. Looks like a roughly 300g fruit, but should reach 500g when the plant matures. Any volunteers to do a tasting video for the tube, in possibly 2 weeks time, please let me know.
