Treasured Trees Canberra is a local family-owned small business dedicated to environmental enhancement through tree planting initiatives. My name is Ben and together with my Mini-Helper, Harlow, we esta

blished this small business as a way of tangibly contributing to positive environmental outcomes while doing something we love. We offer a range of commemorative tree planting options, we are looking at putting together some projects for people and businesses in the community to support, and we also give our time to support other Landcare groups and ACT Government tree planting initiatives. We only ever plant native flora that is sourced locally, are conscious about using biodegradable materials, and our goal is always to work with our customers to provide the best experience we can. WE HOPE WE CAN WORK WITH YOU ONE DAY!

Today's project 🌱 β†’πŸŒ³

10 vs 10 with seed raising mixtures, I'm also testing the propagation skills I've learnt at CIT/TAFE this semester!

Batch 1 - 33.3% river sand, coco peat, perlite

Batch 2 - Native potting mix with seamungus soil improver pellets.

The seed is collected from a local tree in Harrison:
Common name - River She Oak
Scientific name - Casuarina cunninghamiana
These are a local species to the ACT region
3 seeds per forestry tube

Seeds placed on top of the soil and given a light blanket of river sand, just enough to cover them, watered in well with fine mist spray

Tray is labelled and put in an upside down storage container to act as a warmer greenhouse. I will be adding some ventilation holes tomorrow but ran out of time today.

I've finally got some time to offer basic gardening services, lawn mowing, edging, hedging, vegetation removal etc.

I've also been helping some other clients with advice/ideas to update spaces in their yards - ID existing plants, how they grow, and plant selection to create functional + practical improvements for them based on their goals.

If you need a bit of help in the garden or some advice, send me a message!

Pictures are hedging job I did yesterday 🌳

Went for a walk and snapped a few colourful plants along the way...

I introduced myself to a new neighbour on our street, then hit him up and asked if I could take some cuttings from the Callistemon bottlebrush in the picture, he said "go for it!" I'm sure my new mate Reza and I will get along well! πŸ˜‚

Not sure the variegated tropical plant will last the Canberra winter, I'll be watching to see how it goes 🧐

The red Amaranth looks unreal, but it will colonise that garden in a few years if left unattended!
