Today I shut the gates of our nursery for the final time after more than 60 wonderful years.
This nursery was far more than a business — it was Mum’s passion, her life, and her heart. She truly lived and breathed plants, and there was nothing she loved more than sharing that passion with others. Her knowledge, dedication, hard work, and kindness built this nursery into what it became, and so many people were touched by her love of gardening over the years.
Everything I have done since losing Mum, I did for her and because of her. Continuing the nursery and carrying on her legacy was my way of honouring the incredible woman who created something so special and poured her whole heart into it.
As this chapter now comes to an end, I want to sincerely thank our loyal customers, friends, families, and community for your incredible support throughout the years. From helping customers choose their very first plants, to welcoming generations of families back time and time again, we have shared so many wonderful memories together. To everyone who has called in this last couple of weeks and given me support, bought me gifts shared words of encouragement and little stories of Mum and told me how proud not only her but Dad would be I don't have words to express my gratitude to you. I will miss the catch ups, the laughs the stories, the pondering of life we do whilst wandering the plants picking something new (or a replacement for that 1 spot that nothing will bloody grow 😂) alot of you have known us since before the nursery days and that is something truly special.
I also want to acknowledge and sincerely thank the wonderful staff who worked alongside Mum and myself over the years. Your hard work, loyalty, friendships, and care for both the nursery and our customers meant so much to us. Many of you became part of our extended family, and I am deeply grateful for the contribution each of you made to the business and to Mum’s and my life.
This nursery was always about more than plants — it was about people, connection, community, and love for what we do. Your kindness, loyalty, conversations, and friendships have meant more than words can ever express.
While it is emotional to say goodbye, I leave feeling proud to have continued Mum’s dream and developing my own passions along the way. I am deeply grateful for everyone who has supported us through the journey of seasons year after year.
Thank you for being part of our story and for supporting Mum’s legacy and now my own.
