🌿 World Environment Day 🌿
Ten years ago, I planted a tiny Burdekin Plum tree and wondered if I would ever see it bear fruit. Today, it stands proudly in my garden, a reminder that some of the best things in life take time, patience and perseverance.
The Burdekin Plum (Pleiogynium timorense) is a remarkable Australian native bush tucker tree, producing beautiful dark purple fruit rich in vitamin C. Hardy, drought-tolerant and long-lived, it provides food, shade and habitat while connecting us to Australia’s rich botanical heritage.
In a world that often moves too fast, trees teach us a different lesson. They remind us to think beyond today, to invest in the future, and to care for the environment one small action at a time.
This World Environment Day, plant a tree. Whether it takes five years, ten years or longer to reach its full potential, the rewards are worth the wait.
After all, the best time to plant a tree was years ago. The second-best time is today. 🌱💚
