Some fine-tuning of a glorious large property getting ready for sale! W**ding, feeding, re-designing spaces, and helping our client relieve the pressure and stress of closing a chapter, while preparing for a welcoming beginning of someone else's new chapter beginning here. We learnt so much from working on this garden through the previous owner's history and memories of the space, it was truly a pleasure!

A huge mowing and whipper-snipping job of this beautiful backyard from a couple weeks ago! Very tall grass, lots of uneven ground, but hiding beneath all that grassy growth is this gorgeous big backyard!!!!

Lots more to do, to continue working the space into one that is w**d free and inspiring for Client A to enjoy. Such a satisfying clean up/transformation!

Before and After

A big w**ding and mulching job done at Client T's, it even got the tick of approval from the lovely rescue-roo Peppercorn!!! How sweet is that picture?

Some garden beds relatively simple to w**d, others totally taken over with deep and longggg 'Couch' grass runners... they were tough and dry to pull out and are a tough grass to keep it away from where you don't want it!

If you're needing help across your garden space, get in touch - we'd love to help 😄

Japanese Honeysuckle (Lonicera Japonica) Removal

This large honey suckle removal was an interesting task to undertake with several important and vulnerable aspects to consider.

The invasion was largely condensed in an area that was being flooded by a culvert that directed all the water run-off from the nearby escarpments into the property, and further on from the culvert was the properties natural dam.

There was also horticultural tarp put in place 10+ years ago that was absolutely suffocating the soil. It had some benefit of forcing most of the honey suckle runners to establish above it, however there were thick parent roots that had pushed their way through the tarp.

The removal was done without any use of poisons and knowing the nature of a w**d so determined and reactive the task required a multifaceted approach.

We designed and provided the client with a ‘Japanese Honeysuckle Removal & Restoration Plan’

Involving a staged management approach:

Stage 1: Initial Honey Suckle Removal
Stage 2 & 3: W**d Mat removal and Secondary Honey suckle removal
Stage 4: Soil cultivation & Preparation
Stage 5: Restoration Planting
Stage 6: Ongoing Monitoring
Stages 1-3 Have been completed as seen in the photographs and an organic layer placed on top of the flooded area to begin the aid in soil restorations.

The client is making steps to
-restore the soil structure,
-create a more permeable soil,
-improve the soil aeration, and
- create a soil environment that will support the planting of natives that will contribute to improving the soil and its macro/microbial activity, ultimately aiding in supressing the honey suckle growth.
(They have already begun sourcing plants to add to the space!)

It will need continual attention to continually remove honey suckle as it fights back to survive... however there is now a chance for a positive outcome since we have begun preparing the space for a more habitable environment.

It was a big job, covered head to toe in mud but a job that was absolutely satisfying to complete!

Pruning, Repairing, Fertilising, Mulching.

Working on this mini 3 apple orchard, on a ladder pruning high and hard to reach branches that had pushed through the netting causing holes and tears.

+ Removal of Wooly Apple Aphid pests that had hidden themselves up high causing damage.

+ Applying organic fertiliser and mulch to the grounds.

NOTE:
It is important to repair fruit netting so you can protect your harvest, but also so that wildlife doesn't enter and get trapped in there!

((This netting is wildlife safe approved, as its white so it is more easily seen by wildlife, and its grids are under
