An excellent decision on behalf of the state government! You will shortly be able to build an ancillary dwelling up to 90 square metres - instead of the previous 60 square metres - on the same block you have your principle residence on.
To put this into perspective, 60 SQM is just enough for a compact two bedroom/one bath home. 90 SQM can accommodate up to three bedrooms with a main bathroom and possibly an ensuite! That's a home capable of accommodating a full family.
We're not certain of the dates when this change will come into affect but it shouldn't be too far away. It's certainly worth thinking about starting the design process in anticipation of the change being implemented.
