Some restorations are about more than bringing timber back to life—they’re about preserving a family’s history.

This beautiful olive timber chest made an incredible journey with its owner in 1953 from Italy to Melbourne, Australia with a 2 year old in tow, as they began a new chapter in life. To have the opportunity to restore such a sentimental piece was truly an honour.

As part of the restoration, we carefully crafted two new matching feet, completed all necessary repairs, and sealed the chest inside and out with a premium clear water-based varnish to protect it for generations to come. We also took great care to preserve and seal the original destination stamp on the back, marking its arrival in Melbourne—a wonderful reminder of its remarkable story and heritage.

The rich character, warmth, and striking grain of olive timber are simply breathtaking. I can honestly say olive timber has become my new favourite wood! 😍🪵🫒

What an incredible transformation! This beautiful Queen bed, matching bedside tables, and hall table have been completely brought back to life.

Each piece was fully sanded back to a smooth, even finish before receiving three coats of premium clear water-based varnish, enhancing and protecting the natural timber for years to come.

The biggest surprise? The stunning timber grain that had been hidden beneath a dark stain all these years. Once the old finish was removed, the true beauty of the timber was revealed, showcasing its rich character, warmth, and unique grain patterns.

There’s nothing more rewarding than uncovering what lies beneath and giving quality furniture a fresh new beginning while preserving its original craftsmanship.

From dark and dated to bright, timeless and full of warmth.

This beautiful Queen bed and matching bedside tables have been completely transformed while preserving the natural character of the timber. The bases were professionally refinished in Porter’s Paints – Irish Linen, creating a soft, elegant finish that instantly lifts the entire suite. The tops were then carefully sanded back to reveal the stunning natural timber before being sealed with three coats of premium clear water-based varnish, ensuring a durable finish that showcases the grain for years to come.

The contrast between the crisp Irish Linen and the warm timber creates a classic, contemporary look that will suit almost any bedroom. It’s amazing how a thoughtful restoration can completely change the feel of a piece without losing the quality and craftsmanship that made it worth keeping.

Tomorrow, this beautifully restored suite will be heading back home to its wonderful owners, ready to begin its next chapter.

This beautiful antique fold-out desk held great sentimental value for our lovely client, making it an absolute privilege to restore.

To ensure the best possible finish, the desk was carefully dismantled before being fully sanded back to reveal the beautiful natural timber hidden beneath years of wear. It was then refinished in two coats of Cabot’s Stain & Varnish – Sassafras, enhancing the rich character and grain of the timber while providing lasting protection. Once cured, every component was carefully reassembled, bringing this treasured piece back to life.

There’s something truly special about restoring furniture that carries a lifetime of memories. Preserving its history while giving it a fresh new beginning is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

To complete the makeover, the original handles were refinished in Rust-Oleum Brushed Brass, adding a touch of warmth and elegance that perfectly complements the natural timber.
