Lord Forrest Olympic Pool

Lord Forrest Olympic Pool We are lobbing the City of KB to start the restoration of the LFOP as it has laid in ruins since 1999 and make it something the City can be proud of.

The LFOP is now being used a lot more with Schoolkids getting in there to read or socialise during the day which is great.I did ask the council for security cameras but they are an expensive proposition. We have a heartwalk wall paintings ( 6 of 68 pieces around our city ) within a short distance and they look great. It is now a pleasure to drive past that corner on the way to work.I have ask council also to get some bands playing under the reconstructed Diving Tower where it has a perfect place for a stage.

Those people who have said the comment is racist need to know they caught the perpetrators and they were young aboriginals and this is reality not racist. They also went around our city vandalising many other things. If you don't believe me go to the police and ask them

We have had another lot of vandalism by young Aboriginals wandering the streets with nothing else better to do and where their parents would not know where the hell they and in a lot of cases wouldn't care. This time they have smashed a lot of the front windows and wrecked the photos in the place. It was only last week that they put the fountain back after it was trashed as well and cost a lot of money to repair it. Quiet honestly as a City we are over the vandalism that takes place. We are calling for better lighting and security cameras at the site.

I am afraid to say that vandals have already trashed the Fountain and the Pump and Filter.

Today I walked through the complex and it has great potential to recognize the Swimming Association and what it was like to have the first outdoor Olympic Swimming Pool in WA and the second outdoor Olympic Swimming Pool in Australia built in 1938 .It will also provide great benefits to the Goldfields Art Centre,School of Mines,Eastern Goldfields College,Agricola,TAFE,Eastern Goldfields Trade Centre,Diggers and Dealers.Outdoor Concerts and Movies.Tourism and many many more. The LFOP was built by Businesses pitching in and building State of the Art Filtration Systems that stood the test of time.I hope the community gets behind it.I can tell you that when I walked through there those happy memories of the Pool came flooding back.It is not finished yet and they are looking at 5th or 6th Aug 2017.The Swimming Museum will look great.

I am told that the old changerooms will become shelters and the entrance building will be memorabilia to the Swimming Club with an interpretation of the old pool and I think they are putting in a water feature as a dedication to CY and JF.I drive past it veryday going to work and it is getting there. The complex will locked up at night.Another thing which was talked about by a couple of coucillors is a water playground in the south west side of the park.It is still a very good park and I hope it gets to be shared by everyone. There is a lot of shade in the park which is what you want.If anyone has photos of the LFOP can you post them onto the site.I think in time it will be used by the Goldfields Art Centre + Digger and Dealers + Eastern Goldfields College + Goldfields Institute of Tecnology + Eastern Goldfields Trade Centre + Agricola + School of Mines + Tourists. It is getting there....
