…Long story short 😅

Today I made a batch of slow-cooked beef cheeks… tender, juicy, and smelling absolutely amazing. They were meant to be served with the potato gnocchi I made earlier today, but… a generous portion vanished with toasted bread this afternoon, and the rest ended up as our dinner tonight 😂😂

Sorry everyone… they were just too delicious!

I’ll be grabbing more tomorrow and making them again 😍🤙

Hello everyone, happy Tuesday!

This week’s orders for fresh meals are now closed, and the grocery shopping is ✅ done, so it’s time to start playing with pots and pans 😉

In the meantime, I’m preparing more frozen single meals, as they all disappeared last week 🥰

Ready now:

✔️ Fusilli semolina pasta and ✔️ Wholemeal pasta (it’s becoming very popular)
Tossed with tuna sauce, Kalamata olives, capers, anchovies, parsley.

✔️ Handmade potato gnocchi green and traditional, with slow cooked beef cheeks and traditional beef ragú. Pillowy, flavourful, absolutely gorgeous (sauces not ready yet).

Four years in, and the excitement from my amazing community never fades. My weekly menu barely goes live before the messages start pouring in… most weeks everything is snapped up within hours, long before the cutoff ever arrives. My ossobuco with jasmine rice? Today’s dinner was one of this week’s specials: Penne with creamy white sauce, truffled cheese, ham, mushrooms and cracked black pepper 🍄

The first photo shows the dish as it appears on this week’s menu. The second? Half eaten already! 😄 Because the same meals I prepare for my customers are the meals I proudly serve to my own family.

For me, cooking has always been about more than food. It’s about creating harmony around the table, sharing love and attention, and bringing people together through authentic homemade meals.

Another beautiful and busy day at Lisa’s Kitchen, with pots and pans bubbling away, sauces simmering, spoons everywhere, and the wonderful aroma of fresh homemade Italian meals filling the kitchen 🥰

🇮🇹 My Bruschetta.
The correct Italian pronunciation is "broo-SKEH-tah" (with a hard "K" sound).

It originated in Central Italy, particularly in the regions of Lazio, Tuscany, Umbria, and Abruzzo, where farmers traditionally toasted stale bread 🍞 over hot coals and dressed it with freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and a pinch of salt.

The name comes from the Roman dialect verb “bruscare”, meaning “to roast” or “to toast over embers.”

The earliest version was very simple:

🥖 Rustic toasted bread
🧄 Garlic rubbed over the surface
🫒 Extra virgin olive oil
🧂 A pinch of salt

🍅 The tomatoes commonly associated with bruschetta today are a more recent addition.

In Tuscany, a very similar preparation called fettunta has long been enjoyed, traditionally made during the olive harvest 🫒 to taste the new season’s olive oil.

Although its roots lie in Central Italy, bruschetta is enjoyed throughout Italy (Venice included) and loved worldwide.

🇮🇹 A little taste of Italy… with nostalgia.

Yesterday I was thinking about the pizzette I used to buy from local Panificio in Italy for my son and me. They were our favourite merenda (afternoon snack) 🤩 simple, fragrant, and full of authentic Italian flavour.

The memory stayed with me, so I decided to make them myself.

The aroma filling the house brought me straight back to Italy. Freshly baked dough, rich tomato, and that unmistakable bakery smell. Prince enjoyed four in a row and happily packed more for today’s lunchbox!

Moments like these remind me that food is so much more than a meal. It’s memories, traditions, family, and a connection to where we come from.

Needless to say, these little pizzette will be making another appearance very soon. ❤️🍅🇮🇹
