Hi there,
Every day, 56 people in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer. That equates to over 20,000 people in Australia being diagnosed with breast cancer each year. That’s 9 Australians a day dying from the disease.
The cause is close to my heart after my own sister, Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024. Jackie went through gruelling surgeries and treatment, and received support from the National Breast Cancer Foundation herself. I also have aunties on both sides of my family who are breast cancer survivors.
That’s why I have chosen to dedicate my efforts in the 2026 City2Surf to helping fundraise $500 to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and their goal toward Zero Deaths from breast cancer.
Since the NBCF started funding in 1994, the death rate from breast cancer in Australia has reduced by over 40% thanks in large part to research in prevention, early detection and new and improved breast cancer treatments.
We’ve come a long way but there’s still progress to be made. So that’s why, I need YOUR support to reach my fundraising goal. Your donation will not only motivate me to keep pushing forward but also make a significant impact on the lives of Australians affected by breast cancer. This cause is very close to my heart, and knowing that my race is about more than just achieving a PB time- t's about making a real difference -means the world to me.
Any support you can offer, whether it's a donation (big or small) or simply sharing my page with your network, will be immensely appreciated. And just so you know, all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Thank you so much, It truly means the world to me.
Rebecca.
