New farmhouse dwelling designed for a rural property in Argents Hill, near Bowraville NSW. Designed to sit on a north-south ridge taking advantage of views over the Nambucca River to the east and mountain views to the west. Optimises passive solar design in an area subject to large temperature variations, flooding and heavy rainfall throughout the year.

Design is a simple contemporary take on traditional farmhouses found in the area, prioritising practicality and low maintenance as well as comfort and climatic responsiveness.

Recently completed comprehensive renovation of an existing house on a semi-rural property in Korora, just 10min north of Coffs Harbour.

Our design for this resulted in almost a complete re-build of the existing dwelling in order to improve views and connections to the beautiful surrounding gardens and forest. The interior spaces were completed transformed, with locally sourced hardwood ceiling lining over the newly formed spacious living area creating the backbone of the project.

A lot of careful attention to detail and commitment from the whole team on this one.

Another great job by Pacbuild, furnishings by Natural Habitat Interiors & Design.

Another recently completed design, this one our own new home in Korora.

This was a steep site with difficult access, which made for a challenging design and build process. The house has extensive exposure to northern winter sun but is well shaded in summer, which along with thermal mass and effective cross-ventilation will create a comfortable interior space year round. It also makes the most of surrounding views towards the ocean and Solitary Islands.

The interior living spaces have a restrained yet textured material palette combining burnished hit-and-miss concrete floors with birchply and matt white cabinetry. The bathrooms contrast this with more colourful and playful blue and green tiles. The sense of spaciousness is enhanced by high ceilings throughout and large areas of glazing in selected areas, as well as a strong connection to the rear verandah and courtyard space on the north side of the house.

Congratulations and thanks to the team at Pacbuild - Vaughan, Geoff and the team have paid great attention to detail here and produced a very high quality build.

One of my designs in Raleigh is approaching completion, a new house located in a prime location overlooking the Bellinger River. All steel construction with custom tallowood sliding screens and decking.

This house is highly efficient, with optimal orientation for solar gains, natural ventilation and high levels of insulation, and has a whopping energy rating of 9.7 stars!

This is a highly resilient, low maintenance rural dwelling in what can be a very tough local climate, but it is also very comfortable and liveable with an inviting interior that makes the most of the incredible views and surrounding natural beauty.

Nice work successfully carrying through the design to completion from Mick Ainsworth Building.
