It has been a thrill to see that Reunion Place is now a flourishing home to many. I have been humbled to have worked during my tenure at Fender Katsalidis with the talented team of designers, clients and builders on this project. Its a fantastic result.

It has taken some time to have the photographs of our finished Kyneton Pavillion project.
But a house is not really complete - until it is a home.

This project is on a smaller corner site in a quiet corner of our country town. As part of the key criteria there needed to be a considered place for everything for life and inspiration. The garden spaces are curated to create moments of connection and outlook.

The most uplifting and enjoyable part of this design though was in working with clients and team. We have been so humbled to be a part of this journey in creating a home that brings joy.

Many thanks to our clients, to Ross and Luke and the team at VR builders, Susie Baldwin for structural engineering, Zhodi Tesfa who consulted on interiors - and to Shayne Hill at Xtreme Visuals for making it shine.

Our Kyneton home is now complete. What a delight to live in a space that has been comfortable for working and living. All set in a secret garden that shines brightly in autumn.

It strikes me that heritage buildings are special not just because they capture a moment in time. It is that they tell a story of a building through time. The next chapters are important too because they keep the story alive.

As 2020 draws to a close we look back on a year that despite all challenges has us feeling grateful for what can be achieved. While we prepare to share one project nearing completion - the next one is breaking ground in a little part of paradise. 2021 is only around the corner and is looking bright!

We may have had the first really cold front, and another one is coming (its freezing outside). But Im hoping for everyone that not all of this is bad.

Everyone in the family gives me a bit of a ribbing about how much I love the plant shop. But even the non-plant-lovers in the family are feeling a little excited about the landscaping.

We've been greatly saddened to see the crippling effects that bushfires can have on so many of our rural communities. This hits especially close to us as we belong to a rural community ourselves.

There has been a lot of talk among the architectural community about how to help. Beyond donations to provide immediate support there will be a long struggle ahead for those that work to re-build their homes and lives.

For those who face this challenge we know its stressful. Not only are there financial hurdles but today's building and planning controls are ever more stringent as well.

This is something we can help with.

Early this year weve signed up to the architects assist program. This program is a collective pledge for architects and building designers to provide pro bono assistance with the planning of a house build.

This is already something we've been thinking about. An intimate understanding of high bushfire risk areas developed through some past projects has lead us to explore some of the principles that can be used for buildings that are vulnerable.

For 2020 we hope we can devote some collective help to re-build rural communities. We hope that through what we listen to and learn, that we could help to improve resilience for communities in the future.
