Saturday marked the start of National Reconciliation Week, which runs through to the 3rd of June 2023.

The theme for 2023 is, “Be a Voice for Generations”. The theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, work and socialise.

Be a voice for listening. Be a voice for unity. Be a voice for fairness. Be a voice for learning. Be a voice for action.

What will you be a voice for in 2023?

Reaching a significant capability milestone, Australian Pavement Specialists was recently subcontracted to lay a specialised asphalt material at Archerfield Airport. Involving a Shuttle Buggy and 3D survey, our crews laid approximately 2,500t in total, and was the tightest specification we have ever had to deal with.

A special thanks to Position Partners who assisted with level control to ensure that we delivered a high-quality finished product that met all required standards and that we could all be proud of.

If laying asphalt at 170 degrees isn’t hot enough, try laying it on a hot summer’s day! The heat was no match for APS though, with our crew successfully completing a carpark at the Ben Matthews Community Centre, Logan Central.

While seemingly small and straightforward, even carparks can be tricky. For this job getting the fall correct was the hard part, given that we are still unable to get water to run uphill 😂

Today is R U OK?Day and serves as a national day of action when we are reminded that every day is the day to ask, ‘are you OK?

Research done by R U OK has found four in ten Australians feel that asking someone “are you OK?” is a conversation better had with an expert.

Therefore, the theme for this year is “No qualifications needed” and highlights that any one of us can start a conversation at any time.

Not sure where to start? Follow the four simple steps:

1. Ask R U OK?
2. Listen with an open mind
3. Encourage Action
4. Check in

Held across Australia each July, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2022 NAIDOC Week theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! celebrating the proud history of those who have driven and led change previously, while encouraging all to continue to push for further change.

NAIDOC week provides everyone with a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities, deepen our understanding of culture and traditions and to support our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We encourage everyone to get involved!
